We’re worried about Ryan Lindgren’s eventual big ticket FA contract? Lol. Good lord.
The list of players I’d take above Zibanejad at this point in time might be 10 long, possibly less.
Haha yeah it’s crazy. Too many are looking 5–6 years into the future instead of focusing on the presentWe’re worried about Ryan Lindgren’s eventual big ticket FA contract? Lol. Good lord

Needless to say I cannot stand Ryan Strome. A very replaceable piece. He almost cost this team the full 2 points just as he cost this team at least one point against CBJ about a month ago. He is a dumb hockey player. Takes the throne with Skjei gone.
Anyways, they got the 2 points. Time to focus on Montreal.
Isn't that how Kreider got started?
Sad, but kinda true...Howden....Shouldn’t be playing over McKegg when we’re healthy.
Zibanejad absolutely SMOKED that OT winner.
He is approaching elite status if he isn’t there already.
82 games extrapolated:
49 G, 54A, 103 points
I mean geeze
If Smith can play like he did last night that top pair could be a real hard one to play against, keep your head up. Smith to me showed why we acquired him in the first place, physical, moved the puck well and made the simple plays. Hopefully this is his rebirth.
I guarantee there are more 40 point players out there for around $3 million than you think. Plus Strome is going to be getting a pay raise from this glorious production playing with Panarin. Its amazing that we are going to act like Strome is doing yeoman’s work by being productive playing with Panarin as if no one else could.. I am sure there are plenty of players around the league that could do the same, if not better. Yea, Jesper Fast cant because he is a tier below, Kakko is 18 and cannot handle an increased role right now, and Chytil is trying to find his way as a center. There wasn’t a lot to choose from here. Strome offered the most experience and offensive ability to play on his line. But that does not mean he is some golden boy who is the only one capable.Replaceable? Ok, go find me a 40+ point center / wing combo at just over $3m who has insane chemistry with one of our top players that resulted in him exceeding his "base" points by 20+ and in meantime also protecting 20 yo Chytil* from being overexposed? He's still RFA for another year.
*Did you see how difficult it is to step into a top-six role and find a chemistry with a superstar?
Such a short-sighted take....
Staal falling over Geo and hindering him from attempting a save was still pretty bad.Eberle goal wasn't as atrocious, looking back. He came flying out of the box during 4v4 and everyone was caught flat-footed because they were defending.

I guarantee you can find the same production if not better that is a more responsible player on the defensive side of the puck and isnt taking stupid f*cking penalties. They are inexcusable as one of the more senior players in the room. Its selfish and lazy.
I have no problem keeping Strome for next year. In fact I have no problem having him here for 3 more years, so long as he slots down to the 3rd line with someone else displacing him on Panarin’s line, whether that is in house or externally. I want Strome in a lesser role with less minutes to not be on the ice so much with his stupidity.
Panarin actually has 65 even strength points.Fun fact: Panarin has more even strength points (55) than any player on the Islanders has total (Barzal leads w/ 54)
I think I was more so generalizing his play as a whole. The way he backchecks, the effort he puts in defensively, shortcomings in his own end with coverage, etc.Him taking a penalty definitely sucked. However I don't think it was one of the lazy hooking types. It was a trip, since he was trying a poke check to get the puck and spring the offense. Bad penalty? Yes. Lazy? Not this time. I will fully agree that he does take lazy penalties, but not this time. I bet if it were Panarin who did it, trying to steal the puck away, there'd be far less criticism. And Panarin was guilty of a few turnovers in the game too.

He has 55 5v5 points, so it was an easy mistake to make.Shhh. I didn't want to embarrass the Islanders more than they already are
(misread the number in Carp's column today, whoops)
the incessant selfish penalties. No forward in the league has taken more literally. He easily cost us a point tonight. He plays zero defense. And there is zero accountability when it comes to him.
I like the whole soccer vibe. I thought the crowd added to the atmosphere.
(Made it that much sweeter when they won.)
The penalty was what was atrocious. Even if we didn’t score on the PP we still had a two goal cushion to at least take more time off and make it harder for themEberle goal wasn't as atrocious, looking back. Thw Coliseum is a great place to watch a hockey game. Crowd gets into it and great acoustics.
