I guarantee there are more 40 point players out there for around $3 million than you think...

This is the only part of the post you responded to? Which of these $3m 40 point players can elevate their production by 20 points and other things I listed? Even if you give me a name (I doubt) there'd be less than a handful that could satisfy all "requirements". Strome well exceeds what any would have reasonably expected of him when he was brought over in Spooner trade so I just don't get all this hate. The only explanation is that posters like you and @Kovalev27 preemptively expect that Gorton will give Strome excessive contract - though there's absolutely no basis for it.

Here are some beautiful numbers to let sink in. These are all over the last two months. January on.

Shesterkin 9-1, 2.23, .940SV% (last ten games)
Georgiev 5-4, 2.51, .921SV% (last ten)

Zibanejad 30 points in last 23 games
Panarin 30 points in his last 22 games
DeAngelo 17 points in his last 21 games
Kreider 20 points in his last 22 games
Strome 18 points in his last 23 games

My Lord dude...the only part I responded to? It was half the post. And you decided to take only a snippet of my entire post to reply to.

You wanted me to respond to your hypothetical 20 point elevation nonsense? Seriously? Did we know Strome would do that going into this season based on the body of work he provided throughout his career? No we f***ing didnt. Man, what a reach you are going for now. Lets take the same approach with the next 40 point player then since we were willing to give Ryan Strome the opportunity.

But in reality, we arent looking to make a lateral move. For now Strome is fine. We need to upgrade him to a better player. That is the bottom line. If you cannot see his shortcomings that I am sure other elite players do not have to deal with then so be it. Strome should be on the 3rd line. On a better roster going into the season, he would have been. I would be happy to upgrade him, which is very plausible to do, and have him play on the 3rd line. His bump in pay will still be a cap friendly aav on the 3rd line as we move forward.

The Strome defenders are out in full force. You’d think we’re talking about Jonathan Toews here.

The only arena that was surrounded by more raw sewage was the Meadowlands.

I don't mind the crowd chanting...but that fing drum. I listen to the game with headphones and my head was pounding for an hour after the game.

They've cleaned up the area around it quite a bit. It's really not that bad, I live like half an hour away.

That Trouba hit finally made Islanders fans lose their last brain cell, it appears.
. It was a hard hit but it was clean. You don’t want to see anyone get hurt but there was nothing g wrong with the hit. They are just whiny about everything. One guy came on here and said we had 4 “lucky goals” lol. He must have forgotten how the Isles got their first goal

When you come in with hot takes and idiotic logic - you get a push back.

Lindgren had the highest GameScore of all skaters (both teams,) 2.40.
I haven't had a chance to dig into this underlying numbers too much, so I don't know how much playing with Fox is helping him. But I admit that I've been pleasantly surprised by his play.

I don't see the top pairing upside still, but if he can settle in as a 2nd pairing guy for this team long term, it's a major win

Does anyone have the video of Butch crying about the Trouba hit?

He also said at the end of regulation that the Islanders were the better team and the Rangers were "fortuitous" to even get to overtime. I guess a slapshot bouncing off the glass and falling directly in front of the net for a tap in doesn't qualify as fortuitous.

I agree this is disgusting but it’s a theme. There are posters feeling like this toward Trouba, Buchnevich, Strome...

For me this is a very likable team. There's really no one on it that I dislike....even Micheal Haley, Greg McKegg, Brendan Smith, Marc Staal and the recently departed Brady Skjei I liked. I can't always say that about every Rangers team because there have been players I've disliked in the past. That also doesn't mean that I'm not looking forward to the day when Smith and Staal are no longer Rangers--it basically comes down to their play doesn't justify their cap hits and sometimes they do do stupid shit but they compete and someone like Staal gets to kill penalties all the time. That's not one of those jobs that get a lot of glory but still it needs to be done.

And I like Quinn---maybe not crazy about Ruff but I can live with him for now. But I think that this team right now looks like it can contend for a playoff spot--we're 4 points behind Columbus with 3 games in hand and they have tons of injuries--two points behind Carolina who just lost a key defenseman and maybe both their regular goalies. It might not happen but I don't think it's a huge stretch that the Rangers squeak into the playoffs......which would be an amazing result for all the shit of the last 3 years and being the youngest team in the league.

And on the Ryan Strome thing, no one wanted this guy, Edmonton traded him for literally nothing. Suddenly he starts producing at a good clip with an MVP candidate and he's some missing piece ?

Chemistry with Panarin aside, he's so bad at everything else. Anyone saying "well maybe he'll take a discount because he's got a good situation here" I mean give me a break

Forslund is the best around...not even close. I've been shouting from the hilltops about this for years about him.

When Doc hangs it up, not a doubt Forslund takes over at the #1 guy at NBC.

As far as Tracy, maybe I'm getting soft in my old age but seeing that I get a kick out of how homerish the Boston team of Edwards and Brickley are and cause I love Rick Jeanerette of the Sabres for all these years, homer PBP guys and analysists don't bug me like it used too.

The only guy who annoys me is Butch Goring because at least these other homerish announcers are entertaining and at times funny. Goring on the other hand is a bore and emotionless kind of like the way he used to play back in the day.

But yeah give me John Forslund doing a game every day and I'm a happy camper!
I'm in the same boat of not giving a f*** anymore about other team's homer announcers. Used to boil my liver. Now it's fun. Even Goring I got a kick out of (because we won), though he really pushed the envelope last night with some of his BS takes, but if I really had a problem I could just switch broadcasts.

Calling out Strome for yet another stupid penalty and his piss poor defense is a hot take? That’s my idiotic logic?

Keep moving those goal posts pal.

Do you do it in all cases of a player taking a stupid penalty in a specific game and immediately asking for this player to be removed? Doesn't it fall under definition of "hot takes"?

Who said he's the missing piece?

He's a very useful and affordable piece given how he was acquired, what was expected vs actual in terms of production and how his ability to play center or wing provides flexibility to the roster including protection for Chytil.

Strome is one of the worst players in the NHL in terms of penalties taken and penalty differential. It is a serious detriment to his game.

I heard them arguing that Pageau shouldn't have gotten an instigator. He skated over and dropped the gloves before Trouba had a chance to look over at him. What would be an instigator if not that?
