This Buchnevich hate is getting annoying. One bad game. Ok fine. But most games, he’s one of our best players at creating offense.
Buch used to be my favorite but he’s been garbage for 20 or so games now. Making lazy plays all over the ice and I used to like how angry he got when he wasn’t scoring but it’s getting a bit over the top now. He has the talent but I don’t think he ever puts it together. I’d be very surprised if he we re-sign him

They are all like that. Arrogant blowhard losers.
When I was renting( 2 family house) I lived below islander fan. Anyways the isles were playing the rangers and they scored. My upstairs neighbors were chanting “this is our house” and stomping on the floor ( my ceiling) the rangers ended up winning so f*** my old neighbors. But I always know when someone is a islander fan. They usually have the same character.

Kreider was invisible or worse for most of the season and everyone loves him. Could it be...recency bias?

He scored 28 goals last year, is on pace for 25 this year. He has tremendous speed and is great in front of the net especially on PP. Those guys don't grow on trees. This team will sorely miss him even if he is invisible some games.

On their post game, B*tch Goring was b*tching that Brassard shouldn't have been given a penalty. "Yes it was definitely a cross check but they shouldn't have called it. The teams should decide it." Until his team doesn't get the call. Then the old fart b*tches about that.

I actually like Buch and defend him quite a bit but I think he is what he is. I think he can score more than he has shown but at the same time he has had a problem finishing on plenty of chances. Players get snake bitten so I get that but it’s more than that. However I do think he has improved in other areas. I just don’t see him worth a next contract with a raise. I felt this was the year he would take a step forward but hasnt happened despite playing with Zib and Kreider

This Islanders team reminds of some of the Tortorella ones we had... super sound structurally but seriously lacking in talent. They'll end up with a good amount of wins but can't see them getting anywhere in the playoffs

They have less talent than the good torts teams.

The Isles look like the Trotz Predators. Those teams won nothing.

That definitely makes sense, and would work :sarcasm:

"That was not a penalty" - Islanders
"That was a penalty" - Rangers

Guys with his combination of speed, size and skill certainly don't grow on trees. He will definitely be missed, but I do agree that moving him is the right decision. Anyway, that's probably for another thread.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. Neanderthals.

LOL no.

You could split his season in half, and he has 16 points in his last 23 games. Or 14 points in his first 22. Sooo.

People like Kreider because he's a cool bro.
He got off to a slow start. I think it was a combination of thing. He didn’t fit with Strome, was snake bitten the first 15 games, maybe the trade deadline but he has turned it on and been good for a while. This isn’t just a 2-3 game streak, he has been playing good hockey for a while now even with the trade deadline hanging over his head

Why is it the right decision if we can sign him to something we can live with? There is 20 million coming off the payroll after next season.

He doesn't fit into the plans. When the window opens he'll likely be on the down swing and then we're stuck with him. Now if he agreed to a 5x5 contract that would be a different story. But I don't really see him going for less than 7x7. I'm not interested in handcuffing this team in those last two or three years when our young crop will be rounding into form.

This is not my preference, but is this totally insane thinking?

Kreider - $7m x 6 years
Strome - $5.25m x 4 years
DeAngelo - $4.5m x 2 years

Trade Fast for a safe young bottom 6 center prospect

Keep Buch, Skjei, and Georgiev.

Trade Skjei before 21-22 when the young lefty d-men are truly ready.

Buy out Lundqvist
- $5.5m in 20-21
- $1.5m in 21-22
Buy out Staal
- 3.567m in 20-21
- 1.067m in 21-22
But out Smith
- $2.783m in 20-21
-$0.783m in 21-22

That’s a lot of savings to keep the players many of us want to keep with not much cap damage come 21-22. We’d still have room to chase some solid players during that feee agency period.

For the record, I’m still in favor of trading Kreider and Georgiev unless we going on an incredible run the next 40 days.

You can find ways to do it by moving a couple others around which may not be needed. Like moving a a Skjei or a buchnevich

Well for one if you do those with Kreider/Strome that likely means you're losing DeAngelo in 2 years.
