I agree with this. The Rangers need to be able to skate with Carolina and JB and Jones help accomplish this. But I don't see GG "changing" anything since they won a series with Reaves and Braun/Schneider in the lineup.

Jones is the one that stings for me. The Rangers seem to have this idea that he would be abused in the playoffs, so instead we're playing defensemen who could not possibly be any more abused than they have been.

It's not just us, of course. NHL coaches really have this "so I don't get bit in the ass, I'll bite myself in the ass first" outlook.

I think Jones is very much in the future plans. We all love his skillset, but sending him right into a competitive playoff series after only 12 sporadic NHL games this year would not have ended well, especially considering his size. Even Schneider who has been a lineup staple had his bumps along the way. I dont blame Gallant for going with Nemeth over him to start the series, and I commend him for decisively sticking with Braun once Lindgren was back.

Jones will be a mainstay next year imo

We all thought Motte was dead, and he just showed up and helped save our season. Maybe the same will be true for the other guys.

Getting Blais and Goodrow back would be amazing. Also, Would probably be the best 4th line in the league.

I said this before the bubble and I’ll say it again now. This series will live or die with our stars, not because our bottom 6 couldn’t handle it.

If they can't grab one in Carolina I think this should be the move. Hopefully Goody comes back soon. That's what we need most.

Carolina PK loves to double-team the initial entry or first pass back to the point. Most PPs want to get the puck back to the point quickly. Whether we're carrying it in or throwing it in, the puck needs to get deep. Accept that there will be an initial scrum, some seconds might come off the clock, and sacrificing the body will be needed to win that initial puck battle. Win the puck and get it back to the point, and the PKers might peel off and form their box, which ironically enables some room to set up. On the entry, if the puck only reaches the half wall, our guy is going to get double-teamed by the Canes' two pincer-like PKers up top.
