I am warming to the idea of Hynes only because there is nothing special about the alternatives. Cant believe im even saying that.

But if we said a year ago or two that we would be replacing Gallant with John Hynes who has a career .525 winning percentage ....

To what i said earlier in the thread about being progressive, not afraid to take a risk and not go the safe route... goes along with Rangerboy's thoughts.

Maybe they think the Quinn hire was their shot at that and they dont want to make the same mistake. But I'd be much more interested in trying out a Leach or even a Knoblauch given the choices out there.

Its how you find the next Cooper or Sullivan. Someone has to take a chance on them at the start. You know what Lav and Hynes are. A little too much failure on their records if you ask me

Great post - a team should never let their fans run a team but they should have a clue and have some sort of idea on the fanbase. They are so arrogant that they probably think we need to bring a "name" or "retread" in to appease a fanbase they have 0 clue about.

Perhaps someone besides Glen Sather can mention in a meeting that our fanbase is OK with a younger coach and as in a business, probably can get one of these coaches for a lower contract in years and compensation. And if by some chance he does the unthinkable and gets this team to the finals or *gasp* wins the cup, then we can pay him.

Again, they priced out the average fan from the lower bowl so when Jimmy sits and looks around and sees all the celebrities - he thinks that this is our fans.

I’m sorry but no organization should make a decision based on what the fans want. Whether people want to admit it or not, Drury knows this organization front to back considering he was the captain, AHL GM, NHL assistant GM and now president. I know people don’t like him, and his moves have been hit or miss, but none have hurt us in the long term whatsoever. Even if it’s Hynes or Laviolette, people shouldn’t lose it over that. Wait until we know what the team looks like on the ice. Because the roster is a top 3 roster in the metro regardless of who is coaching.

He also won the Little League World Series.

After all is said and done he traded Buchnevich for a couple of weeks of Tarasanko.

If you think that wont hurt hurt this org long term, I'm not sure what to tell you.

But you don't know that. Nobody does. If Gorton/JD were never fired, and Drury wasn't named GM, we have zero idea where this team would be right now. For all we know we could be lifting the cup in a week. What we do know is we took a step backwards from last season. Drury is going on his 2nd coach already, Panarin doesn't want to play hard in the playoffs, and the kids aren't developing as fast as we would like.

Kakko is going to be as good a player as Buch very soon, and that’s where that cap space is going.

If the Rangers hire John Hynes, no second guessing needed, this will end up being the least engaged I've been following this team. There's not a silver lining to be found.
Or a strand of hair

The Rangers will wait for that team to fire Leach and they will settle for the next retread.
Please tell me the 3 things you like best about Leachs offensive system. Yes I know he has been primarily a defensive assistant but we can't hire a guy not knowing about how he will run our offense as well. So what can we expect on offense?

What was Buchnevich doing at 21? Getting hurt every other shift like your boy Kravtsov
Yea he was a physically weak high ceiling 3rd rounder who paced for 40pts in his rookie season, Kakko was the NHL ready guy with "room for improvement: none" according to the draft broadcast; expected to get 60+ points and ended up with 23. Second and third seasons Kakko had 17 & 18pts. So Buch paced for the exact same number of points at the same age (with no NHL experience, while being Kakko's 4th season) despite one of them being a 2nd overall pick. And if you use the argument that Kakko was injured and that's why he only got 17 & 18pts sounds like he was getting hurt all the time just like Buch which was your original argument lol.

Buch had the much better start to his career, especially if you account for expectations and the draft capital it cost to get these 2 guys. Buchnevich rose his stock tremendously from the draft, Kakko has fell tremendously. No team takes Kakko 2nd overall in a redraft.

Your constant bashing of Kakko, Laf and other Rangers players/coaches doesn't make Kravtsov a real NHL player. If you hate our Rangers players so much why are you here? Why not the Canucks board? I know Tochet kind of trashed Kravs work ethic. Does Traktor (KHL) have a board for you?

"Several sources who have history with Hynes have told The Post that the 48-year-old coach is as prepared, structured, detail-oriented and tactically adept as anyone they have encountered in the NHL. In their exit interviews with Drury, those are the very qualities that many of the veterans said the team lacked under Gallant."

Per LB about Hynes.

Those are my biggest hopes for the next coach. Don't know much about him other than what everyone on this board says, but if he really does bring that to the table than this group of Rangers can have decent success under him. Gotta imagine it will be Hynes' best roster to work with to date so who knows. Maybe it can work?

Not inhaling copium =/= bashing

I just think for myself and am not part of the hive mind, I am no more hard on the team than anyone else I am just perhaps hard on different players. Look at the things people say about Panarin on a frequent basis. I don't show anywhere near that level of distain toward Laf or Kakko. I think most of the bashing of Panarin, Mika, etc is deflection away from the fact our 1st & 2nd overall picks have been historically bad. Literally producing worse than Yakupov thus far. Panarin has been our leading scorer every season since he signed here, he is our most productive player in franchise history. If our 1st & 2nd overall picks were swapped with any other 1st & 2nd overall pick nobody would be complaining about us ruining our rebuild, it would've lined up perfectly.

If given the choice between Lafiolette or Hynes…I’d choose Hynes. This could be his last and best shot for success, and I’d imagine he’ll be much more engaged (with a lot on the line).

Both guys are mediocre choices compared to just keeping Gallant and surrounding him with different assistants.
