He's trying to get himself to Montreal before free agency.

He's the textbook example of how putrid this generation is.

And he flat out quit on 2 franchises.

PLD is a "me" guy. Last thing we need is more of them.

Fox and Trouba forced their way here, plenty have. Dubois just has been upfront about it

What are the chances Rangers wait too long to hire a coach that both Laviolette and Hynes says yea sorry no thanks, you have waited too long and then they both take other opportunities with other teams????

See, I disagree here. The bench sets the vision. It sets the style. It is up to the players to execute on that vision. A coach can make or break a team. It can't turn dogshit into diamonds, but it can certainly make it palatable and also take something good and make it great.

The truth is likely closer to this than to what I said.

I'm just at a point now where I don't want to hear, "it was the coach's fault" anymore, so I've swung a little farther the other way. And I'm not going to self-correct for as long as I can help it. Our aloof millionaires need to find some intensity. But yeah, I can acknowledge that the coach matters; I'm just finished listening to how the coach is impacting this core group in negative ways.

Isn't Hynes primarily a defensive coach who ran into trouble with the Preds because his system suppressed offense?

How is that going to fly with Panarin? This team, as presently constituted is not designed to playa defensive game. Easy to say that Hynes should just tell Panarin it's my system and you play it. But that doesn't work in reality and, as many who like to dump Panarin, it is not going to happen.

Hiring Hynes, to me, is a mistake. Honestly, between the two, I'd take Laviolette.
Orrrr, hiring Hynes will have Bread on the phone with his agent 7 minutes into the first practice in Sept.

How do you say " Get me the F**k outta here now!" In Kravtsov?

Gallant approaching MSG to reclaim his job after Calgary hires someone else.

Actually Calgary looked a lot like NYC not that long ago due to smoke from forest fires. Gallant might have gotten confused on his whereabouts.

Back on coaching, I like the thought of going with fresh blood and would be completely onboard with it - but understand if they go with someone like Laviolette.

From your lips... to god's ears.

Of course Drury is going to hire him. Drury needs a good puppet so he can control things and Hynes fits that perfectly. Plus it gives his boy a nice salary to do nothing but follow his orders.

Losing Gorton/JD was the worst thing that could have happen to this team in the last couple decades.
Gotta disagree. More of the mess we have now is due to Gorton/Davidson than Drury.
I'm willing to see how Drury's moves pan out longer term, he's had negatives and positives short term, but our cap hell is on the previous, and maybe he wouldn't have made what we consider his worst move, the Buch trade, if not for their mistakes.

Want NO part of that whiny entitled bitch PLD.
Were you upset when hayes, vesey(refused both Nash & buffalo), & fox (refused car & cgy) didn’t want to play with the teams that drafted/traded for them? Did it upset you when tarasenko(and a plethora of players before him) would only accept a trade to the rangers? These players are people too and have their right to do whatever they think is best for them and/or family. Now it’s up to the jets to try an optimize a return for a player who wants out.

Big difference.

PLD was a dog until he got his way and it affected his play.

Those other examples did not sign a contract for 5+ mil a season.

And yes. I don't like it when players under contracts force their way to a certain team and lower the value the franchise can get.

A player has the right to choose their destination.

It's call free agency

I still think the hold up is because they are waiting to see what happens with Keefe

i want no part of keefe...obviously his teams have done jack in the playoffs but the biggest reason by far is his comment last year when tampa knocked them out. said he thought they got more respect in the handshake line. i want no part of a guy who thinks like that....who gives a rats ass?

Why the reluctance to hire someone fresh? All of the experienced and retread options suck. Drury keeps looking at the same names on the paper. If Drury was planning to hire Laviolette, he could have done it 3 weeks ago.

Go hire Jay Leach. He may not have NHL head coaching experience but he is more qualified to be a head coach than Mike Sullivan and Bruce Cassidy were in their first jobs. Sullivan did a good job in Boston. He should have received his 2nd opportunity sooner than he did. Cassidy took over an impossible team put together by the Caps ownership.

Leach has been an assistant coach in the NHL the last two seasons. He has been a head coach in the AHL. He has worked with Cassidy when they were both in the Bruins organization. Leach was an assistant coach in the AHL with Sullivan.

Hire Kris Knoblauch to run the forwards and PP. Ryan Huska is a candidate for the Flames job. If Huska doesn’t get the job, he could look to move to another organization. He could run the Rangers D and PK.

Maybe Kevin Dean would be a better option. Leach was hired by the Bruins to be Dean's assistant coach in Providence. Leach became head coach in Providence when Dean joined Cassidy's staff in Boston. Dean was on Cassidy's staff in Providence. Dean is currently an assistant coach in Chicago. Ask the Hawks for permission to talk to him about joining Leach in New York.

Dean runs the D and PK. I remember him. He played for the Devils before they became good.

Leach, Knoblauch and Huska/Dean all have experience in the NHL as assistant coaches and all of them have been head coaches in the AHL. These guys aren’t deaf, blind and dumb. The Rangers have a good team. These guys won't make the Rangers a better coached team?

St. Louis looks to be a capable NHL head coach with zero experience. Caufield was lost until Marty took over. The Habs gave Caufield nearly $8M AAV a few days ago. Marty had a big role in getting Caufield going. It would be nice if the Rangers had someone like that for Lafreniere and Kakko.
This is a good question. The answer is that Drury is picking his second coach. Most GMs don’t get to pick a third coach.

Apparently the Keefe decision in Toronto is still pending. Not a stone cold lock.
