It's not about a "coach that yells". over simplifying it to 'hur dur he yells' is about as disingenuous as it gets.

Roy is a fiery competitor. That is transmissible. That is what the group severely lacks. The group takes on the personality of their coach. I welcome this type of compete

His tactics and coaching are a separate issue to discuss.

I doubt Patrick Roy is going to come into the locker room and rewire Zibanejad and Kreider's personalities, but the bottom line is I don't consider that to be a major problem with this team. Thinking that is what this group needs is to me the ultimate simplification. This group came back from 3-1 and 3-2 in one playoff run, a year ago. I strongly disagree that they flamed out this year due to attitude/compete issues - it was tactics.

I think having someone who can drill them on executing better breakouts / supporting the d (who have well-defined struggles) and to not give the puck away at the offensive blueline constantly via bad passes & dump-ins is 1000x more likely to work. Maybe Roy can do that too, don't have evidence of it at the NHL level but maybe he can.

Rod smashes Roy’s face into a jelly

Igor gonna start doing this with Roy as coach:

Calgary is likely opting for one of their internal candidates, whether it’s Kirk Muller or Mitch Love. Gallant is an outside contender.

There’s essentially no reason for Drury to even be considering hiring one of Laviolette or Hynes at this rate. It should only be one of Leach or Roy

I was told teams werent allowed to announce things during the finals :dunno:

Wait a team hired a coach? Selfish f***ing bastards. Now everyone is going to talk about the Ducks head coach and forget the SCF is still going on. Unbelievable
Lol congratulations to the winners of the weirdest argument in HFNYR's history.

For the record, I am on the wrong side of this as well. I thought the NHL would not like it. Guess they don't really care. (or perhaps the GM's don't really care if the NHL doesn't like it)

The other sports have a hard line about that. Especially MLB. They wouldn't let the Yankees announce ARods resigning back in the day during the WS.

I can’t believe Roy is being discussed as a good option… guy is a loose cannon and an ego maniac imo.
I think this may have been the case 10 years or so ago. He's definitely grown up and matured a bit. Last nights interviews really represent that well. Couldn't sense ego from him at all. He's a passionate guy and a competetor. Of course he has confidence but I think he's changed for the better.

What changed?

Ryan Reaves was that guy last season imo. The team needs an a-type personality or three. Whether it's a coach or player.

No question the tactics are a major issue.

Roy is just Gellant part 2. Not sure why anyone wants that. Get a tactician that will develop the kids to take the mantle from the current leadership. Don't that that's Lavy, too.

I don't get why some won't give whoever the new coach is a chance to see what they can do in this market with this roster?
