Friedman thinks it’s between Hynes and Lav. Didn’t even mention Roy.

But Drury has been so tight lipped my guess is Roy is the last on the interview list.
He’s sounded less and less committed to that idea as time has gone on, and he, along with others, have made the point that if it was gonna be Laviolette, it’s surprising that it hasn’t happened yet. Elliotte basically said he thinks we’ll consider this weekend what we want to do, thinks Laviolette and Hines are still in there, and he’s unsure if anyone else is at the top of the list.

I don’t think anyone has a good link to Drury right now and is only getting stuff from secondary/tertiary parties. When Brooks has something, it’s because the Rangers want him to put it out there for one reason or another.

If no coach is hired by this week, who knows what Drury is up too

Here is a name not mentioned and he's a former Rangers that was traded way too soon. Okay that can be anyone. How about Marc Savard?? Would he even be considered??

No sense beating this dead horse but the post I replied to said, "and they were barely, if ever, even all stars."

Right but that same post listed the amount of times each were on the NHL All Star teams, not All Star Games. Maybe not communicated well enough for sure.

The fact remains that very few Rangers drafted forwards ever made that list, with or without being on the Rangers.

WE WANT ROY

What’s next for Patrick Roy? Hmm does he give a hint here?

#NYRHIREROY

His mouth is saying "I have no idea" but the rest of his face is CLEARLY saying "I have been offered the head coaching job for the New York Rangers which I am proud and honored to be accepting. Thank you ladies and gentlemen, have a great evening."

The thinking is Drury fired Ramsay for leaking internal information which should tell people something that when information is not coming from himself it's pretty much just guessing. Maybe the f***ing Rear Admiral will turn out to be right but he was going on nothing that was for real.

Jeff Marek was on NHL radio this morning and speculated about Roy and the Rangers being how he and Drury had a playing relationship together. He said Roy wants to come back to the NHL and with his big ego the Rangers make sense over a small market team like Anaheim or Calgary. He did mention Ottawa as well since it’s close to home.

I wonder if Brooksie talking about Roy is a possibility he heard or just him opining again.
There was that TSN video i posted a few pages back that aired 3 or 4 days before he wrote the Roy piece. That could have been the inspiration.

Although with the ties to Drury, you never know. It kinda makes sense they havent announced anything yet, if indeed Drury wants to take one last look at a candidate.

Warming up to the Roy idea, he hates to lose
2 ex-goalies (at least) in my 55+ seasons fan-ning.
Cat was great,
Low a disapointment ...

Of course Drury needs to have interviewed all of his backup candidates just incase Roy doesn't pick the Rangers or if they can't agree on a salary.

Who else needs a new coach besides NYR? Calgary and Ottawa? I'd have to imagine the NYR job is more attractive for Roy than those other teams...
Depends what he wants... His previous issues were about input into the makeup of the roster/trades.

If another team gives him more input into those areas, they may be more attractive to him then NYR.
