I don't know why Renney gets so much shit on these boards - not a great coach but we have had WAY worse. Muckler immediately leaps to mind.
I dont know, I have him ranked pretty low on my list. Thought he was an awful coach who only seemed decent because he got a couple years of beastmode Jagr and Lundqvist.

Is he going to get through to Panarin & Zibanejad? That's my concern. They already killed 2 coaches and idk if Drury would or should take the risk with a rookie HC.

why do they have to get through to panarin or zips. This is aebout getting through to the entire team, progressing the young guns, and playing as a 5 man unit With a modern day system.

uf everyone else buys in and bread and zips don’t that’s on them. Jay Leach has earned his AC job in Seattle and a possible head coaching job. It’s about take the team in the right direction if those two don’t then they won’t fit and ask for a trade out which is what we all want anyway.

Tom Renney was a fine coach: he restored stability and responsibility to at team that had not made the playoffs for seven years. Coming out of the lockout there really were no expectations that the team would make the playoffs...but they did. He served the team well until, like most, eventually it was time for a change and the Ranger management thought they needed a different type of coach to take them to another level. He was the perfect type of coach for that team, at that time, at that place.

Yea, thanks to a 123 point season from Jagr lol. He carried that team on his back and for the first time in almost a decade we got good goaltending again from Lundqvist.

If there's one thing I've learned about HFNYR's opinions about a head coach, if everyone's booing John Hynes now, he'll lead the team to a Cup.
