Nobody is complaining about Nash's numbers here, the other aspects to his game are Bantam level. Not only can he be any worse defensively, he actually makes it easier to score on Lundqvist when he does his "hero slide" which ALWAYS misses. He floats in the neutral and offensive zone when he gets muscled off the puck or double-teamed, he seems to have a very low offensive IQ in the offensive zone. He shoots when he should pass, and if something isn't there, he keeps on trying. Either he doesn't have trust in his line-mates, or he is so used to playing as a 1 man show, that he is set in his ways. I don't even think Tortorella talks to him or studies film with him. Tortorella says he's "low maintenance" so that's good enough for him, just go out and play big boy, you're Canadian, all is forgiven. Sorry Torts, but your time is running out, your shelf life is past expired, if you were milk, I'd throw you out the window that's how old your system is. It's 2013, incorporate offense into the game or get forced out of the league you came into being a PP specialist ( how ironic).

I'm almost upset at myself being excited for this piece of crap team's games. I actually thought they turned a corner winning a thriller in Long Island. I honestly hope they lose on Thursday too, so we can speed up the process of out with the old, in with the new. Keep Sullivan with our D, hire an offensive minded coach who actually adapts in-game to give us a chance to win. This roster is capable of so much more.

I don't want one guy to do everything. He was brought in here to be a game breaker. He's been quiet for a few games.
Where did I say he was the issue? OR having a weak season? It's fairly obvious without Nash and Stepan we wouldn't score ANY goals. All I'm saying is he's been quiet since that game in Toronto. I'm not saying any of it is on Nash, only that in a game where the team looked like **** and couldn't score, it would've been pretty sweet for Nash to say "screw this system and this ****, I got this" and to score. Not saying he's the problem, not saying it's his fault we lost, not saying any of what you implied.
so not only does Nashty have to beat the 3 forwards, 2 Defensemen, and the Goalie, but also Torts System.
Man.........that's asking a hell of alot from one man isn't it???

Sullivan is a total scapegoat. He has done wonders with our defenseman, he's gotten more out of all of them than many of us expected.
He's a terrible PP coach, but he really should be kept on as a defensive coach.

Spot on. I'd keep him around and bring in a coach who would be willing to try a different approach with his advice as well.
The problem is, with the way the Rangers don't do fluid fast paced instinctual hockey, guys like Nash get dragged down too by what's around them. Look at Callahan's game. Why does he look so dragged down?
I don't pretend to have answers, but there's no way I can look at the way they play and not look at the entire team mental makeup. Something just not right.
Honestly, the PP is so bad I don't care how good he is with our D-men. I'm sure we can find someone just as good as him with D-men who also knows how to run a powerplay. Even if he's half as good with D-men as Sullivan is but only a small percentage better at running a powerplay I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Just don't see him not getting the axe as well if Torts goes. And Torts only runs a 2 man bench, so they aren't bringing in anyone else.

Even if Nash has been quiet the last couple games, the fact that calling out the rest of the team is beating a dead horse at this point shouldn't absolve them from continuing to be called out. Just because it's getting tiresome to say "The rest of the team needs to step up" shouldn't mean everything should suddenly be directed at Nash for not being our Lundqvist-esque forward (Meaning, if he doesn't score/have a massive game, we may as well pack it in). Nash is a game-breaker, we've seen it multiple times already including some very clutch goals. Callahan has been a no-show for 75% of this season. Hagelin has to get back to where he was. Our blue line needs to get something going. MDZ, our supposed offensive defenseman, has just 2 more points than McDonagh and 6 more points than Staal in twice as many games (MDZ is 3-14-17; Staal is 2-9-11).
Long in the short, this team has no identity again aside from desperately trying to imitate their identity from last season. It just feels like the only identity this organization has is attempting to mimic something else from someone else.

When you read the post game comments, you hear a lot of "We have to". We have to do this, we have to do that. Funny how they never actually DO what they say that they have to do. Probably because they are incapable of doing so.
Simply observed, look at how the new guys played before they practiced with the team and before the on-ice and off-ice film sessions with the genius coach. Look at the tape. They looked like a "safe is death" team in the 2 Pittsburgh games, flying out of the zone, making crisp passes and getting chances on the rush. Now they are back to being a "boring as death" team again. This dude would make Wayne Gretzky a 25 goal man. Paul Coffey? he would have run him out of town like Gaborik. heck, he nearly destroyed Lecvalier. That Tampa team as loaded with talent. They won the cup then finished last the next year and he got canned. The worst thing that could have happened, that flukey run last year, has us in a very bad spot now. Torts could not coach the team we had, because he refused to adapt so we tossed away a 40 goal scorer. Now everyone is draped all over Nash and Richards is a shell of his former self.

Asham picking the worst possible time to get his face rearranged.

Just watched this pathetic game on DVR. I swear we all have an addiction, there is no reason for this team to make the playoffs (I suspect they will) as they're not a real contender, and making the playoffs will just convince management (such as it is) to keep doing the smae thing over and over again.

3. These constant line changes are a good part of the reason we can't score, along with the fact that the defensemen can't hit the net.

5. If Stahl ever can come back, I hope they sit Emminger, not Moore.
6. They need to buy out Brad Richards. I always liked him, but he is very much on the downside, and I don't think he's coming back to form in the future.

I don't get how people can say Nash is playing poorly.
Nash and Stepan are the only forwards I have zero complaints about.
EDIT: Can somebody explain to me this Nash is a defensive liability thing? I've never really noticed it.
And I know +/- isn't the best indicator of defensive ability, but Nash is +14.

This team looks like its fine being mediocre. No hustle, energy, nothing. Only the Rangers look more tired than a team who just had a back to back. Everyone was skating in mud. Pisses me right off.
