he ain't perfect,
what marginal, almost 3o year-old, low-price D is?

it's on the coaching staff to use him, and prep him, to best effect

3 years would be sub-optimal, but he shouldn't be hard to move if/when

Nemeth is generally fine. He’ll do this though.

If Grubauer put any effort into getting back into position that puck doesn't even end up in the net, regardless of Nemeth's gaffe.

We were looking for a 3LD, that's what Nemeth is and he will be solid in that role and have a role on the PK. Not sure why some people are reacting like this is a bad pickup. Other teams' fans always shit on the Rangers so not sure why that would impact how anyone here feels about it. Colorado fans wanna hate on him bc he played poorly vs Vegas? Okay sure, that's fair, but remember their whole D corps played like ass in that series.

Getting a veteran LD who can be a stop gap and play a 3rd pairing role and he's also Swedish so he can help Nils adjust? How is that bad?

Yeah, I don’t care about the goal on that clip. I’ve said it a few times - solid, physical bottom pair stop gap. I just said to expect some mental brain farts that exasperate from time to time, like that turnover. You’ll find 3-4 posts from me saying he’s solid and signing him is solid.

Because he's bad at hockey and people would greatly prefer the Rangers not give multi year deals to players that are bad at hockey.

Good signing for this team. He is the kind of bottom pair Dman we should target. A "do whatever it takes" kinda guy. Will be good for such a young team. Really is crazy how young we still are. Its good to bring in some vets. We may have been a little too young the last 2 years which caused both the late start problems and the inconsistencies from game to game.

Also, I guess Seattle doesn't want to trade Soucy for Strome? Haha

Is Gallant the type of evaluator who looks at his 6 best defense men whoever they are and play them??

no, he looks for who has an off day during the morning skate, pulls them aside and says “you’re starting tonight”. :).

People are acting like trading this contract with 1 year 2.5 left on it would cost more than a 4th if we needed to. He had a down year for him last year and was still miles better than Johnson, he is swedish so he can help Nils get settled and we have young backups if he stinks so we can bury him.
This is a fine move with little to no risk, no idea why people are upset about it. I hated the Buch move and was not a fan if the Goodrow contract but this is such a small risk with some upside of he regains his form from a couple of years ago and it may help Nils as well.

He’s definitely defense first, and he plays a rugged game. He’s just prone to very bad decisions. He’s definitely a stay home, physical bottom pair vet. Overall solid as well, but he will have this board screaming at their tv’s at least a dozen times this season.
Sounds like the Swedish Smith

He's the version of Kevin Klein that we saw in his decline or just Jack Johnson normal. Nemeth is really bad. All the people hyping up this signing will be the first ones complaining about him on the game day threads. The dude flat out sucks. He'll be in the press box before the ASG.
Like I said I used to watch him all the time when he played for the Stars. Dude is a turnover machine.

what was he 23 24 back then? He’s become a very solid defender

Ok. They're some crazy conspiracy going on. Patrick Nemeth was on my roster in NHL 21 from the get go.

I didn't put the guy there.

I was like who the F is this guy!?!?!

Sather: Brooks, come here. Kiss my hand. Do you pledge your loyalty to me? You shall be in my family once more. I will inform you before others.

Solves the, need a meh vet defensemen that if a rookie can't beat out he shouldn't make the team. Same as JJ. No problem for it... if the kids play better he can be the 7th D. If not, they aren't ready.

neMEtH

ok solved

Smith at his peak 5-6 years ago, yes.
If that is the case, I am more than happy. Regardless, I think the most important thing is how this helps Nils. I am all for Nemeth if playing with Nils helps him blossom. More than worth it.

Not based on what Red Wings and Avs fans are saying. Avs fans are glad hes gone and Red Wings fans were glad to be rid of him.
