No goalie who has ever played is above having a bad game, right from Hasek on down. The great ones are able to bounce back and get back to their level, like Hank always did and like I'm sure Igor will. I'd much rather him have a slump now than in 6 weeks when the playoffs are about to start.

Interestingly enough, with all the talk about Igor's historic season - in Lundqvist's Vezina season in 2012 he also went into March with a .940+ sv% on the season like Igor did. People forget that because he then went on to have a slump with a bunch of bad games and then had an uneven end to his season and dropped down to .930% which is where he finished, still best in the league but not by the huge margin he was leading by. Seeing some parallels here.

That was a different league back then but that team went something like 30+ games to start the season in not allowing 5 goals or more and only did so two times I believe the rest of the season and one in the playoffs. I think Hank gave up 5 goals once that entire season. Very disappointed that's not the case with Igor. He might lose his Vezina now.

Reaves out, Kegger in next game. Problem solved!

Really though, top 6 need to learn to live another day on the controlled zone entries. If it's tight, get it deep and forecheck. Devils sat back in the second and just pounced on our mistakes and drove play that way.

Also Laf was out I think during a line change where he happened to be with the 3rd line for quite a while and was tired when it was time for the first line so GG put Copp out in his place next shift. It led to a goal off Copp faceoff win so neanderthal coaching says to leave that crew together no matter what, despite Laf assisting in 5 straight with them in including earlier that very game. If a vet has a moment they're made men with NHL coaches, they're all the f***in same with regard to these moves.

Some good perspective here:

Take a deep breath everyone, big game Friday.

Why do I care about what other teams do? I care about the Rangers.

And that wasn't just a loss, that was a shellacking. It's not like the played a tight game and lost a close one. They got the bag beat out of them by the Devils.

Bad night all around. Pitt and Car both won. Only the Caps losing keeps us 5 points in front of them.

It's one weird game where they collectively shit the bed but Shesty also really shit the bad.

Have to painfully and begrudgingly give props to NJ on the team they are building. They truly committed to a rebuild and now have the pieces to be a contender for a long time if they don't screw up. Rock-solid center depth.

NYR lack of emphasis on speed basically across the board...drafting...trades...etc. was blatantly on display.

Why the hell was laf demoted to 4th line!

He played a great first.

If u want to change lines a little fine, but put him on the right of panarin or at worst with chytil and goodrow. As a third line.

By ryan f***ing reaves and the 4th line! f*** you gallant!

I had a glimmer of hope for a comeback in the 3rd, but the very second Kreider decided to try and go back to Zib on that PK - I knew we were done right there before the puck went up ice. I was so pissed that puck never ended up on goal, and against Daws, I think it would have squeaked in past or at least created a crazy goalmouth scramble.

Laf was demoted because Gallant is very bad at coaching hockey.

If I'm Drury I'm seeing what St. Louis is doing in Montreal right now and getting ready to dump the brinks truck after this season.

I'm not too worried about the game. Gallant has sucked all year, so that's nothing new. I understand why they inserted the 3 guys tonight, but it probably threw off the chemistry and the adrenaline rush of a deadline day never sits well. Whole team was probably exhausted and then you have new teammates, linemates, etc.

Coach could have made much better decisions, as he could have all year, but the stinker makes total sense given the circumstances.

Biggest thing that concerns me is that Igor has had human moments several times over the past 2 weeks. Rangers can go on a run, but he will need to stand on his head as he's been doing all season.

I expect the team to click much better with some off days and time to practice together. Motte looked better than I expected. Nemeth-Bruan was as bad as I expected.

This pretty much sums it up. Especially against a fast team that is in full blitz mode and everyone from the outside the bluepaint is in full deer in headlights mode. The puck is going in every direction opposite of where you're expecting and trying to track it.

With the exception of the first Avs game and the Blues game I haven't seen this team so shell shocked, I don't get it.
