Na, we saw him bend that rule with the throwback St. Pattys Day jerseys the past few years. But no way Lou would ever go for a fake throwback with vintage white or anything. 99% chance we wear the white and green throwbacks.

Actually, I wonder if they will even have throwbacks for these games. Maybe only the New Years day game will get throwbacks. What kind of throwback could you have the Ducks wear? Or even the Isles (they currently wear "throwbacks")

If Kings - Ducks isn't Burger King vs Wild Wing, then it will be a major failure.

The Islanders game is on a Wednesday. It just exists to keep Wang happy.

In a way, I'm sure..

but it's also SuperBowl week and it'll get as much coverage as Sunday's game will because of that.

Can't wait to make fun of Rangers fans for 'owning' Yankee stadium in the heart of Rangers country

Thread title says Devils at Rangers-is it confirmed it's a Devils home game?

Someone said TG confirmed it as well as other sources so yes we are the "home" team.

For those who don't know what everyone is talking about.

Of course Bleacher Report hates the Fisherman, Wildwings, and Burger King jersey's. Why they suck.

also since we are home, they should use the CAA goal horn for ***** and giggles too.

So to be clear.....the first ever NHL game at Yankee Stadium is going to be a Devils home game? Even if it's only by technicality, I ****ing love it.

Yup..

hahahah!!

now we just need to win that game so we can brag about two home arenas, brah

Any guesses at to what you think they'll name it?

My guesses:

- Hudson/Cross-River Classic
- Metro Classic

Can't really think of anything else.

We are the home team!

I'm in there like swim wear, no matter what the costs! Getting a jersey too with patches etc!!!

Great to see Marty play in one of these!

NHL is unfortunately miscalculating if they thing somehow they're going to feed off of Super Bowl attention in NY for coverage. Would have been much wiser to keep the dates away from then.

You clearly don't see the novelty, it's brilliant! NYC area. Super Bowl. Cold Weather. Classic Yankee Staium. Hockey outdoors... It's brilliant!

The NHL has figured us out. We keep whining about how stupid the outdoor games are, but lo and behold one is announced with our team in it and everyone wants a ticket! This is why the NHL did 6 games. NHL fans are addicts.

No shot they'd be able to have it at Metlife considering the Superbowl will be played there one week later.

Honestly can't wait for that week, going to off the charts.. hoping to attend both games too!!!

You are right on the money  I've never had a problem with the outdoor games, aside from the fact that NJ hadn't gotten one yet. Now they will. I am happy.

Since I happen to live in southern California, I'm gonna take a seriously look into whether I can get a ticket to the ANA/LA game. That would be so much fun. The only problem I can see is whether or not they can keep the ice in a playable condition. It IS southern California, after all, and we don't go more than a couple of years in a row without a Christmas Day where people can go swimming in 70+ degree weather, and it gets warmer by the end of January.

There's no magical tie-in between the Super Bowl and an outdoor hockey game for non-hockey fans. And that's who these games are for. Of course they'll sell out and hockey fans will love them, I just think they'd have been better served to position them away from the attention of the Super Bowl.

And personally, I have next to zero interest in attending the game. I can appreciate wanting to experience the novelty of it all, and being part of the "event", and it's nice to see the Devils be involved in one of these games since we're resigned to having them. But by all accounts they are a terrible spectator experience.

Wait, how many outdoor games are they planning on having? Is this just a one-year thing?

I really hope so. They're going to overdo it.

Yup we are... Vanderbeek must be floored right now... I'm sure the home team probably gets like 60% of the gate that doesn't get touched by the NHL or the Yankees for hosting.

Ya, the team will make a ton of money from this. These things are a license to print money. Even with 6 of them, they will still have enough novelty to them that they will be packed.

I'm going to be there come hell or high water. A friend of mine says this is just another money-making gimmick (which it is, I suppose), but I just can't fathom not being in the crowd for this one.

Here's how I forsee things shaking out:

1. Prepare for TicketMaster rodeo
2. Fail miserably at TicketMaster rodeo while scalpers win handily
3. Check prices at StubHub
4. Weep upon seeing prices
5. Claim "I don't really need to go, it's not worth the money."
6. Cave like a poorly made roof and fork over said money.

Like I said, just can't fathom NOT being there.
