They're going to have two outdoor games in MARCH?! You can probably get away with it in Canada, but I'm not sure about Chicago.

Don't the Devils and the Yankees have some kind of connection? Like the Yankees with Lou? I heard he has a Yankees championship ring or something like that

Lou is a minority owner of the Yankees and was good friends with George Steinbrenner

Any idea when tickets go on sale for this game? I'd make the trip to New York for sure for this....

Being that it hasn't even been officially announced yet, probably not for a while.

But.. Typically with the outdoor games, the home team full season ticket holders, then partials get to buy. Then the visiting team full then partials get to buy. Whatever's left is then done via a lottery system.

Yup we are... Vanderbeek must be floored right now... I'm sure the home team probably gets like 60% of the gate that doesn't get touched by the NHL or the Yankees for hosting.

If I remember correctly from reading about past Winter Classics, home team is reimbursed by the NHL the amount of money they would make from a sold out regular season hold game and they keep all the profit for themselves.

Regardless, big day for the franchise.. big primetime spot and you can bet your ass they'll be making a **** ton of money from special edition "Stadium Series" jerseys.

It's still usually somewhere between 30-40 degrees everyday here in March. They should be alright especially if the game is later in the afternoon but this was a pretty bad and long winter this year so next year could be different.

If Lou has any say, they'll be wearing the standard jerseys.

lol I doubt even he can buck the trend of every team wearing a 'special' jersey for the game. And since the red/green jerseys have become a no-no after two straight losses with them, I doubt we see that either. Who knows what they come up with, unless we somehow turn the page and wear white and green jerseys this time.

anybody have a realistic guess how much tickets will go for? def want to go.

This was something I googled about the ticket prices for the Winter Classic game Detroit was 'supposed' to have this year.

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2012/06/winter_classic_ticket_prices_r.html

Apparently the tickets started at $89 and most of them were in the $129-149 range, with $279 being the most expensive.

I shudder to think what the tickets could be resold for on StubHub/other sites though.

Na, we saw him bend that rule with the throwback St. Pattys Day jerseys the past few years. But no way Lou would ever go for a fake throwback with vintage white or anything. 99% chance we wear the white and green throwbacks.

Actually, I wonder if they will even have throwbacks for these games. Maybe only the New Years day game will get throwbacks. What kind of throwback could you have the Ducks wear? Or even the Isles (they currently wear "throwbacks")

Disney is getting more lenient with the logo. It appears now on the shoulder of the third jersey.

And please let the fisherman jersey resurface :3

it's definitely an upgrade from the disgusting black disaster the islanders 3rd jersey is.

Sad but true. I hate the Knicks/Mets cheap knockoff even more than Stan Fischler with a fishing rod. And I like the Mets, but that jersey just looks so off on the Isles.

If you read between the lines, there's a reason why they're playing a bunch the last weekend of January and they have two right at the beginning of March. One is leading into the Super Bowl, when the all-star break would normally be, and the other is the first weekend after the Olympics.
