Too bad. He would have killed it in Orlando.

It's ok, Dureau will be back to tear it up shortly.

The AHL vet rules suck because with this termination we could have used the contract on Smith but he was released because of too many vets. Sheary is gonna need to start tearing it up down there.

IIRC, the vet rule only affects the number of veterans that can be on the roster for a game. They can carry as many players as they want.

Yeah but it does Smith and the Crunch no good to sign him to not play every game. They probably asked him if he wanted to extend his PTO but he might not play every game or be released and find another team who has a vet need. He showed he's still good at that level and should be playing nightly. The Crunch are using most of their slots on defense and I know Walcott and Dumont are hurt but not sure how long their out for. Losing Smith isn't a make or break thing just stinks we have to let him go when he was one of the better players so far.

Claiming any of them would do nothing for Syracuse unless they then waive Johansson. They'd have to be on the main roster and I can't see Cooper trusting some kid he's probably never seen play before. Vasilevskiy isn't going anywhere for a few more years so we have time to still bring in some potential replacements.

As for the NCAA kids I really like Flinton who seems to be ignored a lot. Dartmouth isn't a top team so won't get any accolades and his teammates aren't the best. But I think he can carry them to a nice record and put up 20-25 goals and over a ppg. Got a good frame on him too, would like to sign him after the season in hopes he can become a Colton type late round surprise.

Had the opportunity to see Cooper Flinton this weekend and can see why you appreciate him.

Dartmouth is 4-0 for the first time in decades. Princeton is a young team and not overly physical but Flinton uses his size to advantage, blocks shots, creates opportunities for his teammates and plays a well-rounded game.

It will be interesting to see how his game holds up when the Big Green play some of the tougher teams and when he moves up to pro hockey.

Good to hear, it's weird to me though how Ivy league schools don't start playing games till like a month later than all the other leagues.

It seems like all of the NCAA kids this year have started out looking good. Hopefully they can continue to improve and we get one or two contributors out this and they sign with us.
