The Devils should be hosting the home game at Rutgers or Red Bull Arena.... actually RBA would be awesome.

The marketability of the host venue has a big part in deciding where it would be played

Metlife was out of the question with the SB being the next week, Citi Field is great and all but not as marketable as Yankee Stadium largely for historical purposes, and Red Bull Arena doesn't have the "allure" that the NHL can market something around RU would be an interesting venue though

It's still usually somewhere between 30-40 degrees everyday here in March.

Last year it hit 80 degrees for a few days, though that was a fluke, but it can easily hit 70s in March if winter departs early (+no Canadian blocking over Greenland).

I guess im the only one to find this stupid and overdone. I get that its ‘cool’ and all, but its been done to death. I’ll watch from home

I think "stupid" is a too harsh, but I'm in the overdone camp too.

I'll probably watch at home too, because the hushed and unspoken truth is that unless you pay out your azz, you're not going to be able to see much of the game, and I'm not one of those people who pay money to be "part of a moment" - frankly I dont give a **** about stuff like that.

I see a rise in Season Ticket Holders coming up for next season so people can get Outdoor Game tickets....

After this craptastic disappointment of a season, I was worried that tons of STH would drop, but with this Outdoor Game carrot held in front of their faces, plus whatever "NHL Draft perks" they'll be sure to dangle, I almost dont think it's possible for them to fail next year.......

BUT......

let's see how this team can screw it up!

If any team can overestimate the excitement and price that will be paid for hockey tickets, it's YOUR.....NEW....JERRRRRrssssSEY DEVILS!!!!!

Dolan just wants the Rags get an extra one down the stretch.

He did the same thing when the Rangers started in Europe a few years ago, NYR was the away team for all three games so that they got three extra "home" games on their schedule while poor (Anaheim? I think it was) had three less home games than everyone else in the league that year.

Exactly, which is another reason I likely wont be there.

Yankee Stadium is a horrible choice for sightlines for a hockey venue when compared to new Shea Stadium. The Mets venue is smaller, seats would be closer, and there could be 360 degrees of seating. Yankee Stadium will not be nearly as good, but it sure will hold about 9,000 more people (more $$$$) and has name brand (TV ratings).

Now, if you actually CARED about people being able to see the game, Red Bulls Arena would be the best choice. Would hold probably about 28,000, but even the worst seats would have a view (sortof, kindof, but still bring opera glasses).

Really hope we make an alternate jersey for this one-time event.

One-time event?

If this thing is successful and makes good money, they'll do it every 3 to 5 years.

And if the cost of the technology continues to come down, and the demand for tickets stays steady, it wouldn't shock me if this becomes an every year event before too long.

Doubt it will be annual occurrence for our team, but I could be wrong, its just a gut feeling. Regardless it's an opportunity to make more money, so why not create a special jersey?

I want to see the old home uniforms from the 80's. Not the road reds , but the home whites.

I'd love to see John Madden and Scott Niedermayer play for the Devils alumni. I don't think Niedermayer will play though. He'll probably play for the Ducks in the LA game.

And Madden's probably persona non grata after the Julien puck incident.

He played 3 more years here after that.

Here is some alumni that should play for us.

Daneyko
Driver
Marshall
Richer
Lemieux
Carpenter
Holik
Stevens
Chico
Terreri
McKay
Peluso
Guerin
Arnott
Brylin
Fetisov
Kasitonov
Crowder

If Carolina has a few off days I'd like to see Jouhnny Mac and Kirk Muller play in the game.
Same with Pat Verbeek, Claude Loiselle and Joe Cirella.

Jimmy Dowd will be in it

Why do you think it was Madden? AFAIK, that's still a "mystery"; Gomez was also rumored to be a candidate.

if it was Gomez, it was probably just a normal shot on net that missed.

It was a grumpy Mad-Dog type move for sure, but I wouldn't say he's not welcome to alumni events because of it. If Lou felt that way, Madden would have been traded that off season, not played a couple more years with the Devils.

too bad pando is still playing (if you can call it that) and is probably not on the best terms with the organization right now, you could put a madden-pandolfo tandem out on the penalty kill.

He's probably done after this season. I am surprised the Bruins picked him up for this season. I was almost positive he was done after last year.

Which is why I have 0 belief that Sykora wasn't at the very least offered a training camp tryout if older, more washed up, and useless Jay Pandolfo was.

Madden continued to play for us after that incident and nobody knows who shot the puck.

Lou knows who shot the puck guaranteed. And there's a bit of a difference between tolerating a guy when he's still a useful player and then after it's over.

Oh, I'm sure plenty of people know! It's just that the witnesses arent speaking.

I was just trying to confirm where he got "Madden" from, because as I said, AFAIK nobody in the general public knows who shot that puck to this day.

Pandolfo requested a buyout and then received no interest from NHL teams for an entire year. I don't think he holds animosity towards the Devils.
