The Rangers will be tough to beat. Tarasenko is starting to look comfortable and we all know about Kane. He’s not in his prime but he’s still a great player. Need to see how Meier fits and if the Devils add anymore pieces. Don’t know who’s available. It seems like all the very good players, decent players and stiffs have all been traded.

Rangers #1PP unit could rival the Oilers.

As a Devils fan I have to admit: that’s an impressive looking PP! But the Oilers have shown before that a great PP isn’t enough. Of course the Rangers have much more depth and better defense, but we’ll have to see if Kane’s arrival actually help them. I guess there is no way to tell until he starts playing.

As a NJ fan I’m not really afraid of Kane because either way he would still be abysmal defensively and I think we have the offense to take advantage of that.

Devils D and goaltending isn’t very good. Rangers D isn’t the best either but they have Shesterkin

I'd probably give the Rags a slight edge in the series because of the combination of playoff experience and their team seemingly being a little bit better built for playoff hockey than NJ's, but I know if this series happens, it is going to be 2 weeks of awesome hockey. Wouldn't surprise me if either team came out on top. Seems like fate for a series like this to go to 6 or 7 games. I really hope it renews the Devils - Rangers rivalry of old.

Idk why any of my fellow Devils fans try to engage in this discussion. Ranger fans on this site have been putting down the Devils the entire year and any time we show up to try to defend our team, we're labelled as arrogant.

I like the Devils chances but I really don't know who would win the series. the Rangers defence has always looked disjointed. a bunch of quality parts that don't really fit well together.

Shesterkin could go ham and win a couple games by himself.

Trouba could head hunt and take out Hughes or Hischier or he takes out the entire NY roster by missing a hit and doing a barrel roll into the NY bench.
They'll headhunt your stars since they know they're not good enough to beat you, like they did to Crosby, but it's the only way the rangers can win tbh because that team isn't good enough to do anything.

Experience might play a part, but I'm thinking the fact they have a lot of new older players against extremely fast and aggressive forechecking team SHOULD be a big problem. Obviously that's where experience also helps, since it's usually the younger players that have hard time finding consistency in the playoffs and in this case the lack of experience in the Devils side might be more of a negative factor than the Rangers past playoff runs are a positive one.

Especially when either of these teams will just lose to Boston in the finals anyway :P

It's just so hypocritical. I don't care how much crap I get for saying this:

The Devils have been above the Leafs and the Rangers the entire season. Last night, the Devils put up 7 goals on the defending champs who had won 6 in a row and won...

Meanwhile the Leafs got their asses kicked in Edmonton and the Rangers barely beat the freaking Flyers.

So then I sign onto HF boards to find endless crap about how the Rangers are hands down the better team. The Rangers have hands down a better offense despite the Devils scoring more goals and Meier who hasn't even played yet for the Devils is having A WAY better season than either Kane or Tarasenko.

Then we hear the Rangers defense is better. The Devils have given up 8 less goals. Fox is amazing.. but Hamilton is having a career year.

Then we get down to god himself Shesterkin who is statistically having a near identical season to Vanecek... but just because he was amazing last year, he's hands down better and it's not even close.

The Devils vs Rangers playoff series would be epic. Would easily go 6 or 7 games and I can't say either team will win "hands down" either way.... but the Devils are 1 pt behind the Canes for the division lead and this whole thing might be moot anyway. Just exhausting having to try to convince people that a team that's 40-15-5 and has been the 3rd best team in the league the entire season is actually kind of good.

Of course we will defend our team, but other fans don't owe us any respect, especially fans of a historic rival. The only guys who should respect our team, if they want to stop getting smacked, are opposing players and coaches.
Please don't tell me I should respect the Rangers, that would make life boring.

The thing about Bruins/Habs is that the moment they are both good at the same time, it all floods back. Bruins have (in opposite directions) one sided rivalries with Tampa and Toronto right now, but the moment Habs and Bruins are both good again Habs will jump straight to the top.
That’s what I was saying the devils rangers is not at all the biggest rivalry in the league. We’re talking about these teams cause they’re both good but being honest the Rangers islanders are a bigger rivalry than the rangers devils from a rangers fan perspective. From a devils fan perspective it’s not.

Rangers #1PP unit could rival the Oilers.

Idk who did this but Kreider may be the best bet front PP guy in the entire league. Not having him on this hypothetical is insane. Tarasenko will be on the second unit.

But you're a Hawks fan (as you just stated).

I thought the Sharks were in that 1st rounder business with the Timo trade?

Am I missing something here?
If the Rangers make the ECF then the Rangers 2nd becomes a 1st for the Hawks.

I can't see the Canes hanging on to the division lead.

Devils are definitely gunning for the division title.
Any of the three metro leaders could take the division before the season ends. It’s definitely not set in stone.

So the conditions of a certain first round Rangers pick is affecting the side of the argument that a certain fanbase that traded for that pick is taking. :whatever:
