Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Devils | 2/5/13 | 6 Goalie System Brah!

Reading this board is the most frustrating thing after Rangers losses.

We were without our captain and our best defense man.

Relax.

Cally should be on a line with Miller and Kreider when he comes back.

We were without McDonagh? Both McDonagh and Staal are better than Girardi. MDZ has been playing better than him until today. He's at best the 3rd best D-man on the team. You can make an argument for 4th.

He's awful. He is declining hard. He doesn't give enough ****. He's just going through the motions. Collecting his big paycheck.

Zero accountability. Tortorella still showers him with ice time that is not warranted.

With regards to passing, he's been the *****. Problem is, with regards to shooting, he's been picking up the slack for both Nash and Gaborik.

Gabby dominates one game, disappears the next. Outside of going around defenders, Nash really hasn't brought a lot else to the table.

I've actually liked Halpern's game. He has a lot of hustle and I think he's good defensively. I do think he is inept on offense though. Would rotating in Asham and Halpern based on who the opponent is work?

Yeah Halpern only against NHL teams, day games and night games only, and only on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Asham every other game.

Lol seriously, take out their shootout wins and they miss the playoffs completely. They play a good team game.

Miller was our best player tonight, pretty unbelievable. Him and Kreider had some good chemistry there on the PP. Give them all the time!!

I don't believe they'd miss the playoffs if there was no shootout for any team, might still be the 6th seed. Still they weren't a great team in the regular season. They were ok.

Brodeur was infuriating today. I was yelling at the TV most of his saves.
I don't think Hank played bad, but I do think playing Biron in back to back games may help bring back the 2011-2012 Hank.
I do think Hank has set pretty high standards and that might be the reason some people think he's playing "bad."
For those of us old enough to remember, think of the names Mike Dunham and Guy Hebert, and in a way a 19 year old Dan Blackburn with 5 inept defencemen in front of him...there is your definition of bad. Hank is playing average

on a team where 3 goals is pretty much a miracle, they cant afford an average goalie. more than that, they cant afford to be pout down a goal in the first the few minutes of every game. they know they dont have the firepower, watching hank give up a goal on the first 1-3 shots of every game is back breaking.

Am I the only one who is a bit alarmed at the lack of FIRE and JAM this team plays with? It was such a big part of last years team. They were the hardest working team in the league, difficult to play against and always seemed to play with an edge.

I don't see that at all from this group. It seems like there's no passion. These were big intangibles that Prust and Dubinsky brought to the table.

Richards has points in 6 out of 9 games. By far our most consistent forward.

Not sure why he's getting blamed.

Gaborik is infuriating. This is why I wouldn't re-sign him and hence would deal him over the off season. Too inconsistent, soft and relies too much on other players to deserve another long term deal which he will get on the open market.

Richards still hasn't looked good this season. Possible buyout? I wouldn't be totally opposed to it.

Stralman played 22:59 and was a +1.

McDonagh played 24:39 and was 0.

Miller +1 in 14:25.

Kreider Goal +1 in 10:35.

Hagelin with another penalty but otherwise was good again.

Gilroy believe it or not...wasn't on the ice for a goal allowed. Again. Played over 10 minutes.

Everyone else? Garbage. Pure and utter garbage.

This is not a team.

I really want them to compliance buy out Richards in the summer. He's starting to decline. Its painful to watch. We would be stuck with this for 7 more years.

Trade Gaborik's ass while he still has value. Same old disinterested Gaborik. Lazy POS only shows up when he feels like it.

Don't think the 5/6 pair is a problem. I like Stralman's game and when Girardi comes back, the Stralman/Gilroy pairing is probably as good as it gets for a 5/6. Problem is when one of the D is out and Bickel plays. We may need him now for toughness against certain teams, but he handles the puck like it is a live bomb and is almost always out of position.

BTW, I don't think Thursday is such a slam dunk. Icelanders are playing better, are the type of quick team that gives us trouble, and play against the Rangers like it's Game 7 of the Stanley Cup. On the bright side, the speed jump we got tonight from Kreider, Powe and Miller will show.

So the solution is get rid of all the talent?

Sigh. Aaaaand... we're moving on.

We're not trading Gaborik, buying out Richards, ect. Team needs to get back to cycling and not getting caught three deep.

Fix the specialty teams.

He looks bad. He looks slow. He looks like he doesn't know what to do with the puck. He may actually be hurting the PP more than helping. He seems to have lost his game rather quickly.

Girardi plays a steadier game than McTruck at this time. McDonagh is more talented, and has a higher ceiling, but Girardi brings that steady, calmness to the D. He's kind of the glue to our D. He's not flashy, but he's very valuable because of his consistency. McD has made a few mistakes the last few games, which is uncharacteristic......but yet he has

Miller was one of the few bright spots tonight.

If Nash finished on his chance early in the 2nd, we have a different game entirely.

Definitely, missing some "jam" and "fire". Everyone looks content with mediocrity.

Miller wont be going back down anytime soon imo. Torts fell in love with him. HEs the perfect Torts player.

I had a feeling it would happen, and I'm not sorry at all. He should go a long way towards improving our bottom six.

I think the solution is to build around Nash. I am not willing to give up on Richards yet, but Gabs doesn't seem to take any initiative with some space he has been getting.

But, there is still time for these players to find themselves. Well, Richards/Gabs anyway.

I like Girardi a lot, but McD and Staal are much better at this point, and Girardi this season has looked like the rest of the Rangers (minus Hagelin and the kids tonight) - slow. I think one of the reasons we can't score (there are a million, I know) is it takes us so long to get up ice once other teams figured out the touch passes, is that the other team has everyone back and in position.

Replace the 14 million in cap space with player who can make a difference. For all the crap Nash gets he is a pure difference maker on most shifts.

Richards has still the only one producing. There's a tendency on this board to throw the only guy scoring under the bus because the team in general isn't scoring.

If we were to get rid of Richards and Gaborik as you're implying we'd be back in the Christensen days.

I'm not ready to build the entire offense around a guy that has 2 goals in 9 games.

Even if he were scoring, you know who already tried that? Columbus. 30th in the league last year.
