The rangers have no idea what to do on offense when the opponent has two dmen down low. The awful offensive ability to shoot from the point is the cause of that.
Maybe spoiled himself, the defense had a solid game, hank just couldn't stop their few good chances.

The Devils got some very lucky bounces tonight. That said, Del Zotto needs to clear his crease on Clarkson. There's nothing Hank can do when the rebound goes right onto the other guys stick. If Nash and Staal bury their chances early in the 1st, this is a different game. Tonight wasn't our night, get right back to it against the Islanders Thursday

One of the biggest reasons why I miss Sauer. He didn't let guys sit in the crease or linger too long. Some of these guys have to take some offense and start pushing these guys out.
I'll give them credit for the SCF and even the good start but they were not an elite regular season team. That 100 points looked a lot better because they had a lot of guys that can score in skills competition.

On a more serious note though... I'm all for torts keepin the young guys in the lineup. With how inconsistent of an effort we're getting from virtually EVERY god damn player on this team, he needs to make even the players who think their spots in the lineup are guaranteed to start playing with a fire under their ass and a purpose -- to avoid being benched/sent down to the AHL. I don't think a single one of them has played a consistently good game for more than 3 games in a row. I don't give a **** who you are. Send Richards down to the AHL for a game, bench him, scratch him, I don't f'in care. Something needs to get this team goin - and its sure as hell not what they're doin right now.
The two good things I saw in tonight's game:
Torts finally broke up the Nash, Richards, Gaborik line.
MDZ stopped Clarkson from getting his hat trick.
May they bring something different on Thursday.

Eerily similar to Gaborik during the 10-11 season. Also came into the season injured (or was injured early in the season), pulled these disappearing acts for long stretches but then would just explode for hat tricks and 4 goal games lol. He had two 4g games that year iirc , against Toronto & Edmonton, but finished the year with 22 goals lol. Let's hope that is not the case this year.
And this team is starting to resemble he dark year teams. Tons of talent, but barely any team chemistry and total lack of heart. I had a suspicion once we traded for Nash that we were slowly moving back to the overpaid superstar , that NEVER worked back in the day. I sort of miss when the Rangers were the hardest working team in the league, doesn't seem to be the case this year yet.

I'll say this. Marty Brodeur was a sensation tonight. When one of the top 10 goaltenders in the history of the sport has an above-average game, against his arch rivals, at the age of 40, then I have to step back and really appreciate it. Your kids are going to ask you about Marty Brodeur in 20 years. You'll be happy you remembered watching some of these performances. Then you'll tell your kid you threw the biggest party when he finally retired. **** that guy.
Miller looked great once he settled down. Kreider looked like his old self. And I really liked what I saw from Powe. He'll be a welcomed addition.

Boy, this is a game to tear your hair out. Devils had like what, 5 chances the whole game, Kovalchuk was invisible.
I've been saying the Rangers will be lucky to make the playoffs, and I see nothing to change my mind.
And the announcers need to stop making alibis for the team. Close is good in horseshoes and hand grenades, in hockey we'll get good draft choices when we're in the lottery.
And the team does look out of shape. Either that, or Richards and Gaborik have just lost it.

Fatso completely outplayed our franchise goaltender. Hank needs to be embarrassed. Not that 1 goal helped him either.
Anyone else really impressed by Miller's passing? When he got on that 4 minute PP it looked great. Staal with the bad finish/Marty with the great save though.
Yup, very little chances and Lundy let in 3 and forced us to play out of our game. This ones on Hank.
While it sucks losing to those clowns we clearly outplayed and out chanced them in all 3 periods....our PP blows, they got some timely goals and Marty was the difference in the game.
While the team has had a rough few games people have to also realize that with no camp and no preseason games the lines and chemistry had a significant chance of taking some time to sort out when you turn over 40% of your forward group from last season.
You can see a more consistent effort building the last few games and with Cally coming back, some fresh legs/blood/enthusiasm with Powe/Miller/Krieder in the lineup and Torts hopefully breaking up that top line this team will be more than fine by the time the playoffs roll around and that's all that matters in a lockout shortened season.

The Devils won this game because they did something the Rangers have failed to do for most of the season: capitalize on their chances.
The Rangers created noticeably more scoring chances than Devils but failed to capitalize. The Devils had a pretty small amount of scoring chances, but capitalized on most of them.
Don't get me wrong, the PP is a major concern, but I feel that the inability to finish our scoring chances has been this team's biggest weakness.

Lol seriously, take out their shootout wins and they miss the playoffs completely. They play a good team game.
Miller was our best player tonight, pretty unbelievable. Him and Kreider had some good chemistry there on the PP. Give them all the time!!
He looked out of position even on easy shots, and gave up some juicy rebounds unnecessarily.
On the bright side, the energy of the three newbies (including Kreider) made the rest of the team seem plodding.
Del Zotto has been good this year, tonight he looked slow and unsure, and hit the g*****m net on your shot.

i'll remember how bad the performance of the rangers were, and i'll happily forget it...
i'll tell my kids he was one of the best ever, yet that doesn't make up for the fact that he has zero character and a horrible person.
he's no role model!
Remember last year the Rangers stole a game I think 2-0 when we were clobbered and Lundqvist stood on his head and made like 39 saves. Tonight was payback.
