Last night was deceptive. We beat a team we should beat, though it wasn't at all convincing. Sure we had a couple of stand out players, but there are still problems.

Someone mentioned it: Not sure about Fox/Lindgren going deep into the play offs. Not that Lindgren isn't tough as nails, but he's on the smaller side, as is Fox. They'll get ground down in the long run. It's a bit late to be playing with defensive pairings, but there's a reason Leetch/Beukeboom worked so well back in the day.
Would you split the Trouba /Miller pair with Fox and Lindgren?

He has shown some real promise again. That said, I don’t think there’s a way the rangers can get any value for him at this point. They can’t afford to tender the QO so they’ll have to let him walk for nothing. It is what it is.
Sometimes these things just don’t work out, unfortunately.

Someone correct me if I’ve got the QO thing wrong though.

Geo is RFA. We can and should get something in return. Re-signing will be too costly, I assume.

Does anyone remember the last time they saw Kakko walk in and blow a puck by a goalie clean? Wrist looked bionic on that one.

I don’t think I’ve seen it in a rangers jersey frankly.

Hell of a game for him he was really moving out there too. Had a few real good chances. Cross bar right before the goal too

There was this goal from earlier in the season. I remember it being a big deal because it was such a goal scorer's move.

I don't see a Panarin player discussion thread so I guess I'll post it here.

Would really love for him to crack 100 points. Way more than I'd want to see Kreider break the goal record.

He's got 89. He needs 11 points in 7 games to make 100.

Can.... he.... do.... it????

Sadly my guess is no, but would love to see it. Feel like 100 is a hallmark.
Still think it's feasible. Last night was a great chance to get 4 pts. or so. In my mind, there's no doubt he would have gotten it, had it not been for missing 5 games. That hurt. Yeah, 100 is great but 99 is pretty cool as well. lol. Just imagine had he had a REAL RW playing with him. You know, somebody that puts the puck in the net once in a while? Or, if Strome doesn't miss open nets and shoots right into the bread basket all the time? Probably 120.

Yah but not the same. This is a great goal and move but he beats the goalie by making him move.

What I’m talking about is just beating a goalie clean with a piss missile.

You can't take anything significant away from last nights game. It was a major letdown, no energy game against a crappy opponent going nowhere 1 night after an emotional game against the Canes. Once they got that first goal the game was over and both teams were going through the motions. You take the 2 points and move on.

he's learning he needs to change angles and get a quick release. Auston Matthews 101

Biz saying he would take the Penns over us everytime.
Biz knows nothing about the rangers.

He mentioned in the intermission that Kakko has been scratched a lot. No you f***ing buffoon, he’s been injured. I don’t think he’s been healthy scratched at all.

For a tv analyst, biz is surprisingly unprepared for his job

Anybody that thinks pit is the favorite in that series either irrationally hates the rangers, is stupid, or both.

Yea, he's an idiot who became popular online and got hired for TV. It's pretty common these days, unfortunately and is a significant reason for the deterioration and lack of professionalism across media industries. 15 years ago there's no way this guy would have sniffed analyst commentary.

Rangers really need to figure out the PP before the playoffs. Last night's game was horrendous. While I think we have a good chance against Pitt, I don't see us making any kind of deep run with our PP and Lindgren / Fox playing the way they are right now.

Unfortunately for us, it appears Fox may have lingering effects from his injury and Lindgren is just not that good. He's been carried by Fox throughout his career and is a third pair defender. I'd ship his cap hit off this off-season.

This team is way to concerning about about players feelings and relationships. They have overlooked various moves that would strengthen the team because of this. Panarin undoubtedly should have been tried more with Chytil and Fox should have been tried with another D-Man many months ago.

Smart money, my ass. He is obviously a Pitt homer, a Crosby & Malkin kiss ass and is not seeing the nearing end to their very successful 12 years or so.
Malkin and Letang will both be gone, and poor Kidney.....oops I mean Sidney will be pissing losses, up until retirement.

Biz is a moron and that whole panel is awful. I mean "worst I have ever witnessed" awful. They are supposed to understand this hockey thing and at the very least have a little knowledge about the teams that are playing on any given night. If I am watching a game on TNT the channel is being changed after the period ends.

I actually like the TNT panel. Biz is an entertainer not a serious analyst and it works. Jen Botterill I thought was really good last night, she wasn't just spouting cliches.

Anson Carter is a clown though. For someone employed by MSG recently, he knows next to nothing about the Rangers

Did you know the Rangers give up a lot of goals? :sarcasm:

"What do the Rangers have to do this period, Joe?"

"Well, Sam, I think they just need to stick to their game. But spend a little more time in the offensive zone and a little less time in the defensive zone. Get some more shots on net, test their goaltender a little more. And I think they'll be ok."

They’ll have to make him a QO though. And the QO has to match or exceed his current salary. if the Rangers qualify him, and he takes it, it would be a problem. Also another team might want him but not at $2.45m. It’s a tough spot. Unless they can trade his rights before the QO deadline, I suppose. Anyone know if that can happen? Does that happen?

Yea you can trade him before the deadline and let the team either qualify him or sign him to a multi year contract.

Brooks talked about it today how a team might offer the Rangers something for his rights instead of letting him not be qualified by the Rangers and becoming a UFA, thus being allowed to then talk to every team as a UFA.

Kakko’s first goal yesterday oozed scoring talent. Best thing I’ve seen from a Ranger in months. Not necessarily the best play but the most encouraging. He ate up the slot and ripped it so confidently. A predatory goal. The goalie had no chance.

Well we will have to agree to disagree. I never watched a panel who knows so little about the teams that are playing. It's bad, and Biz is not even funny, just annoying. I literally turn it off when the period ends.

To be fair these things are aimed at casual fans as they're a much bigger demographic than us. Most of us posters probably know more about the league, prospects, etc than a lot of the TV analysts. Us HF nerds are like the top 0.01% of diehard hockey fans. I don't go to the panel to get my info & such, I'm already following everything online. I watch the panel just to be entertained, and Biz does that well.

You think casual fans are watching hockey on TNT?
