Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Caps Game 5: see you on sunday

For anyone thinking Lundqvist wants to be traded I'd have to heartily disagree with you there. The guy loves it here and loves his teammates. He gets frustrated, sure, but it's like being in a solid relationship. You might get angry or frustrated with your significant other form time to time, but when the big day comes to tie the knot, you wouldn't want to stand up there with anyone else. No matter how long long it takes because it will be well worth the wait.

That was a terrible analogy, I'm sorry.

Clowe is a big part of our success. I hate not having him in the lineup. This team is so soft without him. Olesky was running his mouth the rest of the game after Clowe was taken out.

Agreed, thought Dorsett and Asham played well, but there is only so much those two guys can do.

Just wondering, if after being down 2-0, you were offered for us to go into Game 6 down 3-2, would you have taken it? Forget how the games went, and who won where and how. Would you have taken it? I would.

Wrong.

You are just flat out wrong. Period.

If Lundqvist believes he is bigger than the team, than he is part of the problem and not part of the solution. He'd be a prima donna to the fullest. But, as I said, I don't really believe he comes off that way (thankfully).

I have no idea how you can possibly think that this would be a good thing to have happen. It just blows my mind. You follow football. Did you conveniently forget how cancerous the Tiki Barber and Tom Coughlin situation was with Barber poisoning the team against him? How can you possibly think a guy with that viewpoint is good for anything but failure?

No, the guy who has been standing on his head for games at a time with no goal support would clearly be a "prima donna" for saying his peace over an inept coach.

Get real.

Torts is only employed because of Lundqvist. One ECF and the rest where we have to battle for the final seedings. Even then, the same ole ****ing story: we have problems scoring goals and our PP is a joke.

And do you remember what Coughlin was going through the following season? Barber definitely left his mark and Coughlin was left under the microscope.

Agreed, thought Dorsett and Asham played well, but there is only so much those two guys can do.

Agreed. I like Asham ont his team a lot. I think he adds something that we needed for a while. He can take a regular shift and also fight. Just two dudes, though. Clowe is a bad mother****er and other teams know it.

that's beautiful:cry::laugh:

And do you remember how well the team played after the cancer was removed? Funny how that works. You are absolutely wrong if you think players should start calling for a coach to be fired. That's an absurd, absurd view. Utterly ridiculous. I would not have expected such a view from you, too. From some of these other posters? Sure. I don't see how you can even think that, man.

How bad does the PP have to be for someone to get fired? Really. I must know this. I have to know what it will take. How many times does it have to cost us games and series?

Yup. We all know that this team, as currently constructed, has some glaring flaws. We've spent all season talking about them and dissecting them. Any round they advance in is going to be tight.

Gaborik > Nash.

Gaborik, with a torn labrum in his shoulder, was able to produce more and score bigger goals when it mattered.

Nash is showing the NHL community why he has never been successful when he is "the guy" on his team.

Absolutely invisible the entire series.

Skates into the zone, turns his body, either turns over the puck or gets off a weak back hand.

I wasn't a fan of the Nash trade to start, wasn't a fan of moving Gaborik and giving Nash full reigns of the team, and I think my concerns have been validated by this series.

This is another game where the team lets Lundqvist down. We registered 9 shots in a 45 minute span. No chances in the 2nd and 3rd, we forced Holtby to make a few solid saves in OT, but I'm getting sick of the quality chances and majority of play in our zone.

Capitals deserve to be on top in this series. They've outplayed us four of the five games. They've shown they're vastly superior to us.

unpopular opinion but i agree as i watch this series. people bashed gaborik because he got too many injuries well look at nash, first year here and he (supposedly) has in injury in his first playoffs. sure he had a great regular season but gabby was here for 3 and half seasons and carried the offense for 2 of them. i think the main reason people will defend nash over gabby is because nash has his fancy one on one dekes so it makes him seem like a better player than gabby

Yeah, we limped into the playoffs. Don't pretend like that Super Bowl win wasn't the reason why Coughlin remained employed.

Can we shut the **** up about football? This is hockey. Football breeds players like that more than hockey. NO ONE should think they're above the team, but the players need to connect with one another as well as the coach. there seriously needs to be some sort of restructuring in system. This is known.

Will be interesting to see what they do with Clowe? I'm sure they want him back, but there has to be a limit on the number of years and dollars you go with him.

Sucks he got a concussion, if that is what he is suffering from, don't want to assume that, but hard not to believe he doesn't have one.

I'd like to know this too.

Year in and year out, the powerplay has been literal ****. And no one is held accountable for it.

The depth is all on the taxi squad or overseas. Guys like Kreider, Miller, Lindberg, Fasth, St. Croix, etc.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing Miller and Kreider next game. Miller can play center and Kreider can help, but not gonna happen with Torts.

I think the turning point is next year. Guys like Kreider, Lindberg, Thomas, and Fast need to be given long looks in training camp. If any of them don't make it out of camp, but rip it up in Hartford, they need to be given real shots. Not one game cups of coffee with two fourth line plugs.

Edit: Forgot about Hrivik. He could help too.

Because he should have been fired after it or something? :help:

You can't possibly tell me that you think the team playing better post-cancer extraction is not because the cancer was removed. Even Strahan and others admitted it was good to get that element out.

They can come back.

Its not over.

Last season they looked worse against Ottawa after 5 games.

Lundqvist needs to steal one. He's had a lead after 20 mins in two of the losses. Not clutch.

It's not talking about football. It's talking about a local team that I know ImIdaho follows closely (like me) going through the same thing that he is actually supporting now. The two are completely relatable things which makes me wonder how he can possibly think Hank should call out the coach.

That kind of crap never works well.

At least this cluster**** of a season will be over before Game of Thrones on sunday

They had home ice in game 7 last year.

This year, they are, and have been all season, worthless on the road.
