Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Caps Game 5: see you on sunday

unpopular opinion but i agree as i watch this series. people bashed gaborik because he got too many injuries well look at nash, first year here and he (supposedly) has in injury in his first playoffs. sure he had a great regular season but gabby was here for 3 and half seasons and carried the offense for 2 of them. i think the main reason people will defend nash over gabby is because nash has his fancy one on one dekes so it makes him seem like a better player than gabby

I personally would take Nash over Gabby because Nash is a bit younger and Gabby's play has been poor for more than just 5 games, however big those games may have been. With Nash, maybe it's an issue of him not being mentally prepared for the playoffs. With Gabby, maybe it's an issue of him losing the elite skills that he built his game around. One problem can be fixed and the other can't.

They can come back.

Its not over.

Last season they looked worse against Ottawa after 5 games.

Lundqvist needs to steal one. He's had a lead after 20 mins in two of the losses. Not clutch.

Agreed, but Lundqvist wasn't the reason we lost tonight. I was not happy with his play in games 3 or 4, but he stepped it up tonight. The team mentally breaking killed them.

At least this cluster**** of a season will be over before Game of Thrones on sunday

Screw that show, I wanna watch the Rangers play hockey. I wanna see them play well and right now sure as ****ing **** it isn't happening, and it better be fixed soon before everyone in that room gets disgruntled, flips a ****, and gets worse than they are now.

Lundqvist is the only reason we don't lose these games 6-1 like Montreal

I guess your "This is known" wasn't a Game of Thrones reference like I thought it was then

It's time for this season to be over anyway. Why delay the inevitable?

Because he should have been fired after it or something? :help:

You can't possibly tell me that you think the team playing better post-cancer extraction is not because the cancer was removed. Even Strahan and others admitted it was good to get that element out.

Coughlin did what he had to do ensure he still had a job. It's not only Barber that called him out to being too draconian: Strahan also called Coughlin out, the only difference is he did it to his face.

Even then, you're bringing up a coach who took his team and won two championships versus a coach without a clue.

he let up ONE GOAL in regulation. you want him to pitch a damn shutout? give me a break. thats such unrealistic expectations. he can only do so much :shakehead

And in my opinion, when you're in a Game 7 home ice doesn't matter. It's bigger than that and it's anyone's game.

Washington media didn't even give Holtby a star of the game tonight. Lundqvist got third.

He got 1st last time they lost in OT.

Lundqvist is the problem here.

well i agree nash is probably the better choice at this point in their careers im just saying its not fair to call out gabby for injuries and what not but nash gets a free pass all because hes apparently a much more elite player than gabby.

Hank is a god amongst NYR fans and for me, he is #2 behind Leetch as the greatest Ranger ever. I would however lose a lot of respect for him if he called out the coach to publicly be fired, even if it is Torts.

But I have a big concern for Hank's FA status. The Rangers have 1 yr to try to convince their greatest goalie of all time to stay put with this franchise. The only way to do that is to make a deep playoff run, which I don't see possible with these group of players. From now on, I will appreciate very single start from Hank like it'll be his last.

If he wants to speak up, he needs to do it behind closed doors. I want none of that reaching us. That'd be complete crap.

It gets out no matter what...Messier's feud in the 92-93 season was widely known even though he never went public, it split the room and led to missed playoffs and Roger getting fired after winning the Presidents Trophy in 91-92.

The line that Joe said about Boyle, MZA & Brassard being the 'creative' line for the powerplay puts this teams offense in perspective.

In what world is Brian ****ing Boyle a part of a creative line on your team?!

Glee? No, just accepting reality. Sorry you don't agree with my opinion, but this team just isn't good enough. They don't belong.

Rick Nash is not capable of playing in the playoffs. People got on Gaborik for playing twice the game Nash is playing now.

Yeah, I agree with you there. I don't think they're very unequal at this point but Nash is going to be preferable in the next few years.

Actually, that tends not to be the biggest priority for European players. He won a gold medal already (that tends to be the pinnacle for them). So I'm sure he wants to win one, but I would say it may be a less insanely rabid obsession than it would be to an American or Canadian.

You've had many European players tell you this, have you?
