We need real depth in our forward lineup. The only forwards we have with any prayer of creating offense in our lineup are Brassard, Zuccarello, Stepan, Hagelin, Nash, and Callahan. And Nash and Callahan are no showing.

Richards, Pyatt, Boyle, Dorsett, Asham, and Powe can't create. Clowe has been injured, but he looks like his best days are behind him too. We've got too many plugs out there.

It doesn't help that none of our defensemen have really developed an offensive presence at this point.

I would love it if he called out the rest of the team, but I doubt he would even do that. Speaking of leadership, where is it? Callahan is a great leader by example, but nobody is there to fire up the team.

Yeah right, Drury 2.0 won't let this ruin his weekend.

I disagree, I thought the Caps dominance started after they had those flurry of chances to end the first period.

Nah, we were playing well in the 2nd and controlled the pace and flow of the game up until that Boyle penalty. Kept the crowd out of it and limited the Caps to the outside, they looked uninterested up until that point.

If he wants to speak up, he needs to do it behind closed doors. I want none of that reaching us. That'd be complete crap.

Exactly. I am in shock that fans of this team actually think that is a desirable situation. Everyone and their mother hates on Messier for it (and for good ****ing reason) but somehow it's OK for Hank to do it.

Ridiculous. Lundqvist wants to be a career Ranger.

You better believe more than anything, he wants a cup. I'm sure he loves NY, and it wouldn't surprise me if he is a lifer in Manhattan. But if he gets an opportunity to go to a team that can average more than 2.3 goals/game (just an estimate, but I'm fairly certain it's accurate) in the playoffs for him, he's going to go there to end his career if things don't turn around in NY next season.

I don't want to have to trade Henrik when he's 35 to a contender at the deadline. I want his cup to come in NY.

lose first 2 games on the road
win the next 2 games at home
OT loss in game 5

Where have I seen this before??????

Caps are not that good. They ran it up in a pathetic division. They beat us, and they are done quickly next round, especially if it is Boston. Problem is.....WE are not that good either.

Agreed. Actually think the Rangers and Capitals are pretty evenly matched. Two team that really aren't all that good, but have the capability of making bad teams look worse.

Bell Centre nightmares notwithstanding, the Rangers would have been much better off playing the Canadiens, who really turned out to be a bad team that got fat early.

Boyle's slash was a penalty. I have no problem with that being called without a dive on Riberio.

What I have a problem with, is the Capitals basically being allowed to do anything they wanted after they tied the game. There was some serious ice tiling in the third.

Not saying the Rangers pathetic power play would have scored, but the calls may have slowed the Capitals pressure and allowed the Rangers to claw back into the game.

They did get called for 2 penalties after they tied the score...the failure to convert one of those is the reason they lost this game

Boyle giveth and Boyle taketh away

edit: wow someone already posted the same thing lol

i dont think people understand these "lucky bounces" that all these teams get against us. when u have all 5 players collapsing to get in the way of shots of ****ing course the other team is going to get tons of bounces and deflections on us. thats just the way it works. you want all these "lucky" bounces and deflections to stop then stop giving the other teams pointmen 20 feet of space and all the time in the world to take 30 shots in a row

Agree with this. The system we employ is such a joke.

1. Draft best goaltender in the league.
2. Employ 5 man collapsing defense.

You better believe more than anything, he wants a cup.

Actually, that tends not to be the biggest priority for European players. He won a gold medal already (that tends to be the pinnacle for them). So I'm sure he wants to win one, but I would say it may be a less insanely rabid obsession than it would be to an American or Canadian.

********. No player has that right. No player is bigger and above the team. Sorry, but if he has that mentality than he can get the **** out and take the poison with him.

The good thing is that I do not think he has that mentality.

Lundqvist is the team. Lundqvist carried the buffoon; not the other way around. 8 seasons for this? He's earned that right.

I actually find robotic, vanilla "yes, men" to be more of a poison than the actual backbone of this team.

I think everything we know about Lundqvist proves my statement correct. Dude is a competitor through and through.

It sucks. It does. No one can do anything except Torts, and Slats. If torts can incorporate a less collaps-ish D and open up offense then we're fine. Sadly the chips don't fall like that for us

Exactly.

Though to be fair, we ain't winning the Cup this year, but we have a real good core of players. With Gaborik off the cap, Richards to be bought out, hopefully we can bring up some young kids, and sign someone who can score a goal and compete as real contenders next year andf the year after. Even thoug he is sucking right now, I think Nash will be a bigtime scorer next year.

Defense isn't a problem.

And Nash and Richards, Stepan and Brassard, McDonagh, Moore...etc...etc.. provideth zilcho. Nada.

Is that how it works?

yes except for brassard. he has been awesome.

and i must be crazy because i honestly think stralman is not really that good. head in the clouds half the time

Gross misconception.
