We didn't suck tonight, we got shellacked in every aspect of the game, against a team you have to go through in the Eastern Conference in the playoffs. In a 7 game series, the Canes beat us in 3.
Who knows, maybe we are saving the 60 minute effort for the playoffs. LOL

I can count on one hand how many games the Rangers have played a full 60 minutes. This is certainly something we need to work on in the second half.

It's really not, honestly.
Fox's ability to see the ice and operate in small spaces is as good as I've ever seen. But, from a physical perspective, Leetch is just in another league. Watch or re-watch Game 4 of the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals. He did that kind of shit all the time.

The Rangers don't match up well with any team that they would potentially see in the playoffs.

If bolded were the case Henrik would have won a million cups. It's a team game. Good teams don't just rely on one player to do the work for them and hope it all works out.
We match up fine vs several teams in the east. Shesty is a top 3 goalie in conference. It’s the halfway point of the season. We’ll most likely add some players and have some time to learn GG’s system. We could get swept in the first round or go on a run. Either way I’m fine with that this season. The #1 goal was to get in and get some experience. That was priority. Everything is else is an added bonus.

Rangers dont match up well against 'modern systems'.. Where the team relentlessly attacks as 5..

There's definitely some talent limitation but it's mostly a coaching one. We are playing hockey that just doesn't work against it.

Gallant has been left behind... a decent analogy would be running the ball and playing defense in the NFL... it's just not how you win anymore

I love the revisionist history that Leetch was this physical player because I used Leetch's skillset to disprove that absolute drool that Fox will be bad in the playoffs because he doesn't set off this guy's Vince McMahon muscle fetish.

I don't think he was even old enough to ever see what Leetch did.
He's only the greatest player who ever played for this original 6 team..

Fox isn't even a hair on Leetch's balls lol

Maybe...maybe just laf barron and Kakko make a line. Something needs to change, these guys need to get going

A new kid line would be a cop out and show weakness from the coaching staff, a huge red flag.

Fox is showing signs of wear already IMO.

It would help if he had a bigger guy opposite him. Lindgren has looked atrocious as well.

Fox isn't showing signs of anything except having and 8 foot dick and a 9 foot chin.

You people just have to ruin the one thing that keeps me going.

Fox has 43 points already. We used to raise a banner to the rafters when a defenseman finished the season with 40.

I think Lindgren's physicality is catching up to him already. He' got steamrolled by Svech in the first period tonight on a reverse hit at the blue line. His frame doesn't lend itself to a long career with his style of play. It's something to keep an eye on.

The weird part is that Gallant's Vegas team played exactly the way you're describing. They were swarming and relentless and would consistently overwhelm their opponent. We don't play that way at all.

We still don't have enough puck support moving up the ice, our forecheck is improved but still too inconsistent, we still don't shoot enough and we still slow down and let the opponent catch up too much when the opportunity is there to push the pace. Too many one and dones, not enough traffic up front, not enough throwing the puck at the net to create havoc and thus not creating any sustained pressure or momentum. I think a lot of it is that our core players up front all play a certain way and aren't changing.

I am like, actively in my 30's.

Like, you guys know that, right?

I was young when I joined. That was 11 years ago.

11 years ago today actually.

You're right, it was Graves who got the penalty on a similar play.
It was a cool play. Not one of the gratuitous hits some people are so fond of.

Gelinas was coming in on the R wing, looking a little dangerous, then POOF he was out of the play. Leetch was quick & used exactly enough force to take him out & no more.

Trading for players is not going to fix anything.

This is a coaching issue. A X's and O's problem. Need to make some major adjustments[

Not a chance. It's a talent problem. The Canes have a lot of it and the Rangers have some.

Simple explanation, we just don't have the speed or the talent to play that way. And your last point is spot on, our top six doesn't want to get on board.

If the internet were around back then, the same f***ing people would complain that Leetch is soft and bring up that Stevens has more Cups.

Tell me I'm wrong.
