Staal did play like he was blind. He's not nearly the player he was before the injury and it's sad. Hank must stop the GWG; no screen, no deflection, no win. Aside from that we played fine against the best team in the East who just got spanked and were motivated. I'm ready for Mcilrath. I'm so tired of watching Lucic and Chara take liberties. I want them to pay a price. I would take a stick in Chara's throat but an ass whooping for Lucic would be better. Bring the kid up, trade MDZ and let Falk and Moore play next to McI. Why not?

It really is becoming evident he will never be the same:(
I feel for the guy, going from a shutdown monster to , well, what he is now...
Henrik has been crap. I think he is still hurt, it is the only logical explanation. He is overcompensating for something. We don't know what his injury was, but it seems to have affected his confidence. It's not the pressure of needing to be perfect, as evidenced by the years of the exact same scenario that he thrived under his whole career. No goal support.
One of our main organizational flaws us having no stud # 1 C . They can dictate the pace of the game and are more intrinsic to success than any other positional player. It's been literally 20 years of this same crap. Middling draft picks don't get top centers.

Disapointing out come. I guess this puts us back at the .500 mark. It also begs the question how much longer do we give Vingdouchebag. Because as discussed earlier here we are going into December & while we have played better we are still a .500 hockey club & are one week away from having a much worse record, or still a .500 team. I don;t think we are a week away from being much more than that.

Sick of Richards just throwing the puck blindly from behind the opponents net. Callahan does this frequently too. Gotta pick your head up.

This again, is a game where we could use our bottom lines to chip in a gritty goal.

Callahan has been pretty bad. Barely noticeable lately.

Think the lines need to be changed. Cally and Brass and aren't working and the Stepan line isn't dictating play like it was their first few games together.

Power play was pretty poor today, again.

I'm really really really sick of pucks going into our net off our own players. It honestly feels like this happens at least once every other game. Very frustrating, and I'm sure it's even more frustrating for Hank.

Just my opinion, but if the first bolded is true (and I think Staal has earned the right to more time to adjust before we treat him like damaged goods), then the 2nd bolded can't happen.

Very very good point. We are hoping Staal gets his game back, but counting on it and trading DZ could be a bad move.

I cant tell if you guys are just blind, or being purposefully ignorant.

Lundqvist was much better, but the team was doing a lot of things much better than they are now.

That team was not great defensively. Once in a while they'd have a dominant effort at home and close the door like this team did against Nashville and Montreal. They got outplayed regularly. They just had an elite goalie have the best season of his career. They also actually scored, but with how little talent they had, I'm inclined to believe it was more fluky than anything. Something tells me if that team was more or less kept together, even if Richards and Gaborik didn't fall off the cliff last season, that team wouldn't be any better than a 6th seed. I do appreciate how anyone that disagrees with you is either blind or ignorant. You have yet to be wrong on this site, it's amazing. How does it feel to be perfect?

Im by no means perfect, but I think I am pretty consistent -- hammering the cruddy personnel and the GM that builds a deficient roster every season. Thats the reason this team is not very good.

What I dont do is discredit the best Ranger team in a generation to perpetuate fantasies about this current team. What I don't do is meander my way through crisis to crisis each game and put a target on the heads of the better players. What I dont do is spend all off-season talking about how Vigneault and his new system was going to lead to more goals and then clam up when that doesnt happen. You should submit your resume to the Rangers before its too late -- I think you'd be a perfect hire for Sather.

The problem with this team is that the things that once made it passable, i.e., team defense and goaltending are now either in shambles, or are struggling mightily. It's exposing all of the other areas where this team is grossly underwhelming.

Considering that since the terrible start when half the team was injured and the other half was learning AV's system, the team has surrendered 39 goals in 21 games. That's fewer than 2 goals per game, I have feeling that both the goaltending and team defense aren't struggling mightily. I see a goalie that allows one goal each game at least that should be a routine save and a defense that isn't playing significantly worse than that OMG 11-12 defense, if at all. The difference in goaltending is obscene. I remember how much that team struggled when Lundqvist had an off March. 3 goals or more allowed practically every game.

I don't remember talking about AV all offseason. You have fantasies about that 11-12 team. Actually you don't. You're just using it as a way to bash this team. I don't remember BRB being even a millionth as happy with that team as he is now all of a sudden. You only say anything positive about the Rangers 2 years into the future so you can bash that current team. This team is no cup contender, but they're also not the garbage team you want to pretend they are because it makes you happy to be miserable.

Comparing the 11-12 team to this team is an insult to the 11-12 team. That team had a sack and never gave up. They had an identity that was emulated by every player on the roster.

It must be fun to talk yourself into falsehoods. Its probably the same sort of thing that got you think this team would be scoring goals consistently.

26 games doesn't make a season. Kings were 13-12-4, first 29, the year they won the Cup. Not saying this team is going to do that but I am saying there's a lot of hockey yet to go.

They were also very largely underperforming, like this roster is.

My hope really isn't all lost. I don't think we'll win the cup but we're not this bad.

Just fire Vigneault like they fired their coach, right?

This roster is underperforming, but I dont think its underperforming as much as you think they are

What is "this bad"? .500? This team is pretty mediocre, and the record reflects that.

There is still a lot of time left for them to pull themselves out of mediocrity, but I think this team simply isn't built to do so.

Stepan's still not 100%, Callahan looks out of whack, Staal's still adjusting. Those are three big pieces. They're definitely not underperforming to the level that Kings team was. But they're not a 41-41 team. They're still a 2nd round playoff team at best.

Not .500, but these maddeningly inconsistent efforts. They're just slightly above .500 at best. Still mediocre.

Talk about an exaggeration.

I never said Lundqvist was the only difference. Rangers were a lot tougher and more consistent defensively.

But they were dominated on the reg even then.

BRB, your negativity on these boards are legendary. However, you have the right to express your opinions,of course, even if they become tiresome after a while.
I do agree with you 100%, however, when you say this team lacks skill to be considered a contender.

Not saying you're wrong, but I always thought the problem with this team was, is, and likely will continue to be that passable = the best possible outcome for this team.

Regardless of the change in style of play, year after year, the story is the same.

2 steps forward, 1 step back with most moves. Trades, free agent signings, coaching changes, etc.

Not one of the vaunted prospects has developed into a stud. Yes, many of them are still young, and many of them are good players. But no studs, despite the respective (and often absurdly out of control) hype machines for each of them. Brassard is the inconsistent, mediocre player he has been for most of his career. For every flash of brilliance, like that pass he made to Moore in Dallas, there are entire games of nothingness. And then you have the Pouliots and the Pyatts. What happened, Brad Isbister wasn't available? Christensen? Marcel Hossa?

No gamebreaking playmaking talent either up front or on the blueline, no secondary scoring, and a sizable population of absolute useless clods polluting the roster. The names on the ice and the names on this board, some of them have changed, but the discussion is virtually the same.

Always amusing . . .

Who are you again?

This game is the Rangers' season in a nutshell. Lose by a goal that Girardi scores for the other team and a softy by Lundqvist. Seriously, I really pray to God that Lundqvist is traded for good young assets and a backup. You can't start every ****ing game down 1-0. A few great saves don't make up for it when you're supposed to be the best in the world. I'm sorry it doesn't. If Zuccarello gave away the puck for a goal like he did agains the Panthers every game, no matter that he's one of our best point producers, he would get destroyed on this board. These softies are every bit as bad as that giveaway. Lundqvist meanwhile has a hoard of defenders. All the guy has to do it make a few good saves and then no one is allowed to criticize him for the daily softies.

Are you kidding me . You must be watching the game with mcdonagh coloured glasses !!

11-12 team after Lundqvist stopped being a God and Biron fell back down to earth from March to April goals allowed minus empty netters in 21 games:

2, 4, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 2, 5, 2, 2, 1, 4, 3, 2, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 4.

13-14 team

Minus empty netters. In the last 21 games (this is after what looks like an outlier start, Hank and Biron played worse than anything in that streak in 11-12, so it's unfair to use those 5 games).

0, 4, 2, 2, 2, 2, 0, 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 3, 0, 1, 2, 2, 0, 5, 2, 3.

Taking into account OT that's about 1.85 GAA for the 13-14 team. Taking OT into account for the 11-12 team that's about 2.73 GAA. That's almost a full goal more. So looks like this team even with a shaky Lundqvist is giving up almost a full goal a game less than that team with a shaky Lundqvist and Biron.
