Sorry, but that's the problem. I guess I'm kind of thinking like Don Cherry. Take the Swede out, because he's not that physical, sorry. I'm just ticked at Stralman for his goal on Hank this week. It was terrible. You can take out anyone but McD in my opinion. The D does not play physical which is pitiful.

At least you admit it. McDonagh is not physical. Stralman is probably our 2nd best D-man now. And the fact that you said "take the Swede out" is amazing. You obviously would be fine if his name were John Smith but played the same way. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. It's opinions like this that you see at games by casual fans that need to prove how tough they are and makes Rangers fans look bad. :shakehead

I did apologize for my inner Don Cherry coming out. At least give me some credit. Our entire D plays soft. We get out hit every game. trust me I am not Xenophobic (sp?)

I'm fine with this as long as we can replace Lundqvist with a solid goalie at a lower cost and spend the money on actual scoring forwards. This team should be trying to build like Chicago.

Absolutely. The Rangers' D is good enough, the systems in the NHL are good enough to win with a solid but not spectacular goalie. You can't win scoring 0-2 goals every night unless you have a grandpa in net that missed a season (Thomas). And if you DO have a team like that you can't have your goalie spot the other team a goal every game. I'd also dump Callahan. The guy is a good 3rd line player and a great PP player and PKer and if there was no salary cap I'd keep him. He'll be overpaid, just like Girardi because "grit" is important for NHL GM's, no matter how little skill the guy has. None of this will happen, except maybe Girardi. Hank is the face of this franchise for a decade almost. Callahan is the captain. Unfortunately too many casual fans who don't know anything will be upset.

I'd honestly love a semi-rebuild. Trade 2 guys on the decline in Lundqvist and Girardi. Get at least a #2 center at some point. Dump Richards next year. Fill some holes offensively and defensively. This team is not that far off, but they as a whole not just the 2 guys I singled out are nowhere near cup contenders. They do have some good pieces though, so it won't be a full rebuild.

I'd be ok with this. As good as Lundy has been for us, committing the chunk of cap he will command will cripple our team , especially with him declining. We need a true #1 C instead of a committee of # 2s. We may not be sellers just because of how watered down the East is, but for the long term success of this team we should be. Crappy drafting because of poor scouting and low picks are a major problem . Lundqvist may be the worst thing to happen to NYR in a while , as he propped up a crap team and squeaked us into the playoffs with teams that should have been picking top 3

You apologized and then still said we need to get rid of "the Swede". The entire D doesn't need to be physical. You don't need to get rid of everyone who isn't physical. I'd rather have a guy that can skate rather than a guy that's physical and can't.

that was a piss poor effort. Callahan has been terrible.

I'm not saying the third goal was soft, because if you give Chara three seconds to line up a slap shot from the middle of the ice, well, bad things are going to happen. I'm sure Hank wants it back though.

I think if we drop tomorrow's game to Torts, we'll see a "panic" move made.

Time to deal DZ for a winger already. No use in having him sit for nothing.

Yeah, forgot about that. Still, what did Girardi do on the PP to earn most TOI? It's a ****ing mystery, and has been for years..
It's not like AV sent him out by himself. His counterpart on the second unit likely just changed first.

Right now you can trade anybody, but McD--he's gotten too be solid, even on the PP. The other D men are just kind of interchangeable parts in my opinion. All of them are tradable right now. Since all of people that have expressed an opinion that we need some changes.

Guys I want to keep:

Hagelin
Nash (I like him, he costs a lot, but he's not that old, he's our biggest threat and he also usually plays hard, outside of the playoffs last year, but that's what happens when no one else is a threat)
Stepan
Zucc
Kreider
Brassard (I like the way he's been playing recently as up and down as he is he's still a valuable player, put him with good players and he can be a decent #2 center, IMO, top 3 passer on the team AINEC)
D. Moore (great 4th liner)
Dorsett (a poor man's Prust when he's not taking stupid penalties, good 4th liner)
Boyle (I can't see him costing much, good 4th liner and PKer)
McDonagh (best player on the team now AINEC, the guy could be a Norris candidate soon enough)
Stall (50/50 here, he's still a good player)
Stralman (2nd best D-man this season, IMO)
John Moore (great potential at least, cheap and too young to give up on)
Talbot (kid has been steady, I doubt he steals that Dallas game, but I also don't think he gives up all those softies, cheap, and relatively young)

It sounds like AV was pissed n the post game. Even when we were beaten 9-2 or 6-0 he didnt sound ass pissed off as he did after this game. very frutsrating game. We need to go on a 5 game winning streak or something and get some seperation for the .500 mark

Trading everybody is an extreme overreaction. There are some good players on this team that teams can win cups with. Stralman is a guy you can win cups with. You're being way too rigid in this "physical" thing. Every D-man doesn't have to be physical. McDonagh is not physical. Lidstrom wasn't physical. I really would love to see McIlrath on this team right now. That said he won't change the scoring problem of the O and the softy problem of Lundqvist.

Why dont AV just play the 2nd pp unit, all the time they netted twice last game ?
also he hasnt played the stepan line as much as he used to. true they havent been as sharp lately but they are still our most consistent line in terms of offensive pressure

Eh, I disagree. We dominated this team last time and still lost. The current Rangers squad is mediocre but can certainly compete with the good teams. It just depends on what team shows up.

Honestly we were a fluke goal and a routine save away from winning this one and I wouldn't even say we stole it. We got outplayed but in no way were dominated or something. This wasn't any worse than at least half the efforts in 11-12, except then we had a dominant goalie in net and puck luck.
