At ES Kravtsov actually looked good last night. On PP right wall is not a good spot for him - he’s much more comfortable in a bumper.
Very happy with halak. As long as he’s healthy he’s the best back up we’ve had in a long time now. Just a steady no frills no nonsense veteran back up. Calm game.

My concern with Vesey, is that he would be seen by coaching as more than a 4th liner, yet if he did get only those minutes I think he'd be a better option.

Vesey is miles better than Hunt including for the 4th line role.
I honestly don’t know why you would keep a guy for that role that doesn’t hit fight play center or PENALTY KILL

even if we concede that Vesey has looked good, which I guess he kinda has, he's a #1 candidate to get overplayed when the team isn't doing well. THE candidate. wins in a landslide. not even close.
really disturbed by the bottom 4 D last night. Obvi Tinordi sucks and Skinner is only sorta kinda a prospect but Robertson looked baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad and Emberson looked not much better.

Those mental meltdowns of Georgiev were something else, reaching into the realm of the surreal. That debacle in St. Louis. We all just had to laugh at them, but also glad we no longer need to endure them.

Everyone is in denial thinking Vesey isnt making this squad. He's what Gauthier should have become to keep a spot, a reliable bottom sixer that can move up who can penalty kill.

Agreed. If Vesey is deployed as a bottom-sixer, that's ideal for everyone, but he can be seen as a baseball five-tool-player who can pop into the top six and into special teams due to unforeseen events.

The lineup was pretty bad but so was Boston’s. Trochek bad passes led to the tying and winning goals. Lame game all around.

You can cry the same about any 4th liner, especially with an example of Hunt last season. Would you be happy if it's Hunt being overplayed instead of Vesey?
I think allaire is the perfect coach for halak. He’s really going to get him back to basics. Halak is a very steady goalie

The hate for Vesey is a bit cra cra.
The kid has come in on a PTO and has looked better than the guys with bona-fide contracts.
It's those guys that should be shat upon.

well, I think Hunt is much less likely to be overplayed than Vesey in this line-up. He was overplayed because Kakko and Blais got hurt and it sucked.

Hunt was completely overplayed last year so I don’t know why you would think that he wouldn’t be overplayed again. If we are going to overplay someone better Vesey than Hunt.
On the fourth line is where he’s actually a positive presence and gives us a talent edge. Anywhere else he’s a liability or at best average.

Skinner, in my eyes, really needs to work on his pivotal skating. He's got a very static skating stance that doesn't allow him to maneuver and shimmy to make space to get his great shot through. Side stepping, point turns, it all needs work.
That should be a point of focus for him in Hartford this year, especially if he gets a shot on the top PP unit down there with Jones and Reunanen gone.
