What I learned at breakup day is that I pretty much like Laviolette and think he's a good coach.

IDK what the strategy this summer will be. On the one hand, they're clearly a good team, but on the other they're clearly not good enough and I don't think you can expect a lot of internal improvement from the biggest parts of this roster.

If you're still counting on breakouts from Chytil and Kakko, I think you're foolish. If you're locking up Lindgren for more than 3rd pair price and minutes, you're foolish. If you're not looking to offload somebody from the core for salary alone, you're foolish.

That said, I get the feeling that all of the above might be the case...

I think this disqualifies me from ever complaining about another team playing cheeky with the LTIR stuff. Golden opportunity here and they didn't take it lol.

If Nick Kucherov had diarrhea at the TDL the lightning would've slapped him with the LTIR and buried him under the Earth until late April.
LTIR is only useful if a team is willing to trade assets at the deadline to acquire players and salary. I don't think the Rangers wanted to give up any more assets than they did.

Zac Jones has never played in an NHL playoff game and hadn't played actual NHL competition in nearly 2 months.

Not realistic at all to throw him into the fire that was the middle of the FLA series against a heavy team with the ice largely tilted.

I'd still take trust and take hobbled Tuba over him and Rooweedal against that team

Good thing Trouba rewarded the team's trust.

Unless Zac Jones suddenly became a LH healthy Adam Fox, inserting him nto the lineup would have made no difference.

Lavy would've had to limit his minutes in too many situations like PK, Dzone starts etc. which would only stress a Dcorps already under siege and gassed.

Or if he had Jonathan Toews' intangibles where his precesnse would hav einspried 20/93/10 and the team as a whole to wake the f*** up.....

Was this breakup day covered on MSG channel on TV?

Can it be rewatched anywhere? Or is it just clips from media member phones?

List of players to be Rempe'd next year:

Sebastian Aho
Nick Jensen
Sam Bennett
The entire NJ Devils Organization (again)
Was the Jensen hit dirty? I don’t recall.
Why Bennett? I thought actually Florida in general played hard but clean. But I must admit I didn’t pay very close attention.

Chytil was turning into a damn good player and had a very good season last year. It's a good thing he came back but it's unfair to expect much from him this series after not playing for 6 months. If healthy he can be an important part of this team. He is not in the same boat as Kakko.

He'll say it was accidental but it was hard to tell. Not as clear an "accidently on purpose" as Aho but f it, he's got one coming to him.

Bennett has never thrown a hit that wasn't charging in his life.

Fair enough on Bennett. But then there are a number of guys who need their comeuppance.

Very impressed with Rempes exit interview. Seems ready to put in the work and knows he is far from a finished product. If he can become a decent fighter and stronger on his skates, he could be a real weapon. Also mentioned he used to play center and wants to be able to fill that role again.

I think he is underestimated as a side show by alot of fans but I think he can be an important piece moving forward.
Kid has a great attitude. He's gonna be fine.

I spoke to a very well respected NCAA coach who mentioned the same thing. Although Trouba was terrible he was playing valuable minutes. Jones would have been extremely sheltered. You are seriously riding Fox Lindy Miller Schneider for those minutes. Its a tough spot

That's an awful bottom 6. And any team with Kakko and Lindgren in a top 6/top 4 role is not serious about winning.
That's a better bottom 6 than what we had last year. Basically the same players we had last year except Kakko and Goodrow are swapped for Othmann and Brodzinski. It's an upgrade.

And Lindgren/Kakko were exactly in those roles to start last season when we won the President's Trophy. Lindgren was injured, he's fine on the top pair with Fox. Kakko on the top line, if you read what I wrote, is just temporary until we acquire a rental top line wing. You try him on the top line once more to raise his trade value, prove he belongs, or just until you can make a move.

I feel like Chytil is a big?? and we don't necessarily have to expect a "breakout" but they played the whole season without him and he wasn't relaly up to speed for the playoffs. If he actually stays healthy it's not wild to pencil him in for 20 goals and 20 assists, which would be a boon for the 3C spot. So that itself is an "upgrade" compared to last year. The issue is always whether he will stay healthy enough.

He'll say it was accidental but it was hard to tell. Not as clear an "accidently on purpose" as Aho but f it, he's got one coming to him.

Bennett has never thrown a hit that wasn't charging in his life.

He leaned out to "get a piece". It's dirty in that those plays often result in injuries but it's not like he went Brian Marchment on Fox.

and finally for trouba...ya'll can't just keep saying "yes but he was playing big important minutes". He sucked at them. f***ing sucked at them. He shouildn't have been playing them. He doesn't get a pass because they were hard minutes, that just shows how bad a fit he was to be playing those minutes. It's not an excuse, it can't be an excuse. hockey needs to get past this dumb bullshit that if you f***ing suck on the ice "but you were playing against hard competition" then it's ok that you f***ing suck.

no, you just f***ing suck. give those minutes to someone else and see if they do better.

No good players end up being "bad" because they play hard minutes. If they're bad it just shows they aren't good enough to play those minutes

I don't know how many times I have to say it. Its f***ing bonkers to me that people excuse shitty play with "but the competition..."

lotta players play tough minutes and do very well! or at least, well enough! The ones that are bad are...bad. no excuses

So we found out who was hurt and who wasn't. So Mika wasn't hurt and neither was Panarin. So they're both wussies that would rather shy away from contact and twirl on their skates, than do what it takes to win. They aren't winning with that type of attitude on the ice. Mika and Panarin avoided contact in the playoffs like they owned it money. Soft players and soft mentality never wins in the playoffs

He could have hidden it from the coach? How do we know what went on?
His what? He literally said he wasn't hurt when the playoffs started and the assertion is he should have been benched bc of bad play. What is he hiding if the assertion is bench for bad play? Everyone could see his play

I still think Chytil might end up a huge asset and I still believe Kakko is worth keeping as a possession asset that might end up a scorer.

That said, I would trade any player if I thought it would help the team.
