The amount of latitude Richards gets is disturbing. PP, Shootout, Key faceoffs, it's ****ing mind-boggling. He's put into these situations not only with no result, but often to the detriment of the team. Weak with the puck, poor decision making when pressured, lackadaisical effort away from the puck and in the defensive zone. I can't wait till he's off this team.

i never really had it out for BR........but man, he contributes almost nothing game in and game out. He just cant play at a high level anymore.

You don't blame a goalie ever on a 2 on 1, as long as the goalie is playing the shooter. That being said, his mistake TECHNICALLY was that he should have been extra aggressive (coming out harder on on the shooter) because he showed backhand shot the whole time.

If he somehow was able to show that he might pass it back to the other guy, you have to take that chance.

Keep in mind, this is decision making that all happens within a split-second. Easy it is not. He didn't miss it by much.

I'm not blaming him. Did you not see me blaming Moore in the main thread AND in this thread? It's even in the post you quoted.

I had something like 10 posts ranting about Moore.

This game is a microcosm of what is wrong with this team and why they won't have success in the playoffs.

-Too passive. Passive coach, passive mentality.
-Lack size.
-Lack speed.
-No push back when the game gets physical, they go into a shell.
-Top forwards are not our top forwards, Nash, Richards, St. Louis.
-No offensive defenseman.

This isn't the year. They need a bunch of holes to be filled over the summer.

Absolute crapfest. No Ranger looked good. Completely outclassed in all areas. Back to Renney/Torts prevent defense all third period. Flyers, Wings, and Jackets have more skill, heart, and grit than this sad sack team and all three will probably pass the Rangers down the stretch.

I don't think this Rangers team is special in anyway whatsover but the Flyers haven't score in 120+ minutes and counting, for all their heart.

If this is sarcasm my bad.

Richards gets way too much PP time. He led the team in PPTOI tonight, and he is the PPTOI leader on this team by quite a large margin. His last PP point was on March 7th. :help:

Girardi returns to his caveman Torts roots when he's in a high stress situation and that's what he did there, weak clear up the boards. That play works maybe once in 100 attempts. He's not a stupid player, but he does stupid things sometimes. The team that hasn't allowed a goal like that in that situation all year looked like they were completely flustered. It was a disgrace from professional athletes.

When he can't just pass it around the boards to McDonagh, it shows.

Both goals were weird as hell for a goalie. As Benoit and Barrie both went to shoot, the puck slid slightly off their stick, delaying their shots and changing the trajectory. Seems trivial to most, but as a goalie, that's all it takes to F your timing up.

Sucks to lose when we were so close to the win, but we got a very valuable point against a good team. It's not the end of the world.

I can't stand Richards anymore. I just hate seeing him on the ice and I hate it even more when MSL gives him the puck.

I never understood the Nash hate when people say I never want to see him in a NYR jersey again, but I guess that's how I feel about Richards.

Oh jesus, I'm pissed but one game where we barely lost in a shootout to a team that has more than 100 points is the reason we won't have success in the playoffs. Give me a ****ing break. :shakehead

G5 flat out blew the game. We win this game if we had McDonagh covering his ass like he usually does.

Oh I know, I'm just responding to the part you mentioned about me thinking it was weak. I didn't use that term specifically, I just said he needed to be more aggressive on that play.

You're kidding, right?

The last game on a Western road trip against a good team that we barely lose against "is a microcosm of what is wrong with this team and why they won't have success in the playoffs?"

What a joke.

lol

we take a top team in the west to OT, and really we led till the final seconds of the game.

and all of a sudden its hole-a-palooza.

we'll be fine.

Well, coming from you we know what that means. ;) :sarcasm:

Either way, I think he could have done better on both goals yet there was PLENTY of blame to go around on both.

Still fuming about the refs placing the puck in our zone, too, at the end. Man alive is that obnoxious.

The problem with Nash is that has tendency to either do too much or he gives up on plays to easily.

But than again he is getting to play against all the best defensive units and had to play with an up/down Stepan all season.

Richards is just a waste of money at this point.

Holy overreactions here. I'm pissed and all, but I feel like there are posters on this thread who get giddy when we lose so that they can start posting how terrible we are and how we won't win in the playoffs and how every other team is better. Give it a ****ing rest already.

Redden= AV

Richards on final FO
Richards on final shootout

The faceoff the tying goal was scored on? That was Brassard and he was stuck out there because of an icing, nothing to do with AV.

In the SO both MSL and Richie had Varlamov beat but neither could lift the puck. Richards lifted his but not high enough.

YUP. There absolutely are posters like that. They relish wins because their negativity is validated in their mind and they can come in here and say "I told you so" and feel good about themselves.

Andddddd posts like this is why I always avoid coming here during losses. Only reason I'm reading through this thread is cause we at least got a point tonight.

True. I'm a fan of Nash so I may be biased, but I really like him on the PK. I feel like he does a good enough job defensively when he's out there and he adds an offensive element to our PK, which has burnt some teams over the past few games.

Frustrating that they couldn't make more out of those PP attempts, as that's really COL's weakness.

Aggravating loss considering they were winning with less than a minute left, but give respect where it's due, Colorado at home is one of the top teams in the league and they have a very respectable offense (and it was probably more of a must-win for them then the Rangers).

Yeah, Nash has been awesome on PKs. I love him there.
