Let me ask you this, who would you rather keep when everyone is healthy. Miller or Pyatt? Why??

For third/fourth line minutes?

Pyatt. In a heartbeat. And I super-mega-loathe Pyatt.

However, when everyone is healthy I expect them both to be gone, or Pyatt to be in the press box.

Where does Miller fit in for sufficient developmental purposes when everyone is healthy?

He's not ready for full-time NHL duty.

I disagree with you, but that's ok, I guess we see things differently.

I like Miller, and think he will be a very good 3rd liner with us for years to come. Playing on the third/fourth line, for a non competing cup contender (which we are right now) and getting NHL experience will only benefit him in the long run. I don't see the point of him playing top minutes on top lines in the AHL, only to come to the NHL and be playing on the 3rd/4th lines, with a different role...

Fair is fair, man. I wasn't expecting to change your (or anyone's) opinion. Just saying what I think!

And of course, I hope I'm wrong and you are right. I'll eat the crow every day with a smile on my face :)

Only difference I see with Miller compared to the AHL (stats wise, I don't watch games) is he seems to be unable to finish at the NHL level. He gets high quality chances but can't convert. It was the same last year too.

IMO I think JT Miller has the potential to become a very similar player to Brandon Dubinsky. I see a lot of similarities in their games.

Agree with this comparison. I think JT will be a more mature player and he has better offensive instincts. May not be as good with the gloves off.

And that's why +/- as a stat in a vacuum isn't a good thing to do...goal 1 was a bounce over Staal's stick at the O Blue line...goal 2 was a deflection off of Girardi's head...none of the forwards had any responsibility in the goals against.

The second goal followed a lost faceoff in the D zone. Unfair to say no responsibility.

Miller is so ****ing overrated on this board.

He should be next guy gone when Cally/Nash come back. Keep Mashinter around to sit in the press box.

Were you saying that when he made Subban look foolish the other night? How many guys on this team can pull that off? He's raw but he's going to be very very good long term.

He's shown flashes, that's it. He hasn't been able to show a single bit of scoring touch at the NHL level though. I feel comparing him to Dubinsky is a little out there right now.

I hope nothing more than to eat crow one day on my Miller bashing, really, but I see more of Boyle in him than Dubinsky.

33 NHL games and he has scored in one of them.

Does he use his size well? Sure he does. Does he appear fearless at the NHL level? You bet. All good things for a young player for sure. I'm just not seeing the finish that makes a career projection to be a 40-50 point guy there yet. I'm not as high on him as others around here.

And I hope this doesn't read as me singling out JT here. Obviously there are a few guys on this roster who aren't holding their own offensively. JT just happens to be one of them. I think he needs way more seasoning at the AHL level.

Wow. Boyle. When you see JT Miller, you see a slow, no hands pk specialist who has no vision or toughness? They couldn't be more different. Boyle is strong in the dot; JT is not (yet). Boyle has the experience to get in the shooting lanes and block shots; JT does not. Boyle pretty much sucks at everything else unless you count puck possession that never leads to anything; JT can skate, shoot, pass, hit (with more than a pansie's force), and has great balance.

Talk about horrendous comparisons; this could be worst I've ever seen.

Oh yes, that one play was great. I said he's shown flashes - that was one of them.

But that's totally awesome that you can point to one thing JT Miller did that was great :handclap:

He also has a two goal game in the NHL, let's go back to that one also! Funny enough, that's the only game he's ever scored in.

Maybe that's what you think.

And again, I certainly hope I'm wrong.

That play shows a level of talent that negates any silly comparison to Brian Boyle. During the course of a game he does many things that make him NHL worthy. I brought up that play because that doesn't happen that often to Subban. It may take him time to consistently light the lamp and set up his teammates, but he is clearly an NHL player and on this Ranger team; he is one of the best 12 forwards we have.

I politely disagree - and hope I'm proven wrong.

No, I'm 100% serious. Unfortunately the line of he, Brassard and Miller had a terrible puck possession game. He did start only 18.8% of his shifts in the offensive zone, but still, 20% is terrible.

Being at the Coliseum, I thought Boyle played a very strong game last night. He was extremely efficient in the penalty kill, had some good chances up the ice, and was an extremely reliable defensive game. Offensively there wasn't a whole bunch, but he played far from a terrible game.

I'm sorta with silverfish here in that I think Miller isn't ready. I'd send him down for a bit more. he really doesnt bring much offensively other than board play. He tries to dangle way too much and makes VERY high risk plays that hes luck hasnt burned us more often.

He's young and needs time. I guess I just think, developmentally, he's better off playing top line minutes in Hartford.

But, this is once Nash or Cally come back. Mashinter sucks and shouldnt be playing.

Agree on the PK.

I missed a NHL first though, Zucc was used on the PK.. how did he do ?

Honestly, he didn't look out of place at all. I'd say he looked good, actually.

Love seeing Zuccarello play well. So easy to root for the guy. That Kreider-Stepan-Zuccarello line was the best line on the ice.

I thought he played a very Brian Boyle game; aside from the terrible numbers in the dot. He was good on the pk; and highly ineffective in all other situations. The game last night was fast and that is not a good environment for his game. His inability to accept any pass not directly on his tape is a major detriment in a fast game where decisions need to be made fast and passes often are a little off target. He played most of the night with Pyatt and Dorsett I believe as they were all on the ice for the two goals against. Not saying it was their fault necessarily but if they had the puck more it would end up in our net less.

I think Zucc was good on the PK. He's got a good stick and is pretty quick. Wouldn't mind seeing him there more often.

Your eyes deceive you.

Boyle played 7.6 minutes with Brassard, 7.0 minutes with Miller, 3.5 minutes with Dorsett and 2.8 minutes with Pyatt. Boyle won 67% of his faceoffs.

So my question is: if your eyes can't pick up such facts which are cut and dry as that, why do you trust them as your sole source on hockey player's value?

+ Ranger fans.

HAHAHAHA cocky Isles fans act like they are the new "it" team in New York and yet on TV it was obvious this is still MSG East.
Easily 60/40 Rangers fans. Love it.

The move to Brooklyn is a factor. They will soon have a good home crowd.

The move to Brooklyn won't affect the Rangers one iota. Especially not to Barclay's, a arena not built for hockey.
