I'm really disappointed. this isn't a truly horrible contract but this is bad. A very bad deal that has buyout written all over it.

Agree with your point about Tanev but making deals where we say at least it’s not as bad as this other contract is not the best way to build a hockey team.

Agreed, overpriced but not devastating. If you are gonna overpay by 30-40% better to do so with a $3m player and not a $7m player.

I'll also say this: If this move satisfies the "we have to get harder to play against," mandate and we are now allowed to resume stockpiling the best players without having to answer whether each one has "grit," before acquiring them, then the contract has already paid for itself in spades.
