Sooooooooooooooo, we gonna talk about the hip injury thing? Whats the deal, whats been reported and whats your feeling on it? In my gut, its just not gonna pan out and we are not getting the electrifying Patrick Kane. I truly believe that's why we got him for so little.....

I'd be really concerned if either of the following were true:

- We gave a lot to acquire him.
- He was the superstar that we're hitching our wagon to, and we needed him to be "the guy."

Neither are true.

We don't need Kane (or even Tarasenko) to be "the guy." We need them to be depth scoring. We need them to put up decent numbers when not playing against the other teams' checking line.

With some luck and some balanced scoring from the kid line... this team could potentially be very difficult to contain. You may stop one or even two lines, but simply being able to throw this much talent over the boards, in waves, is going to be super difficult for the opposition.

We probably have this team together for the next 2-3 playoffs... The kids like KAM, Laffy and even Chytil will not get long term deals.

This year and even the next couple of years, should be the greatest chances of winning a cup.

I can't believe the Rangers basically gave up nothing for Kane (given how bad the Rangers historically are at drafting first rounders, Laf and Kakko aside). So as we wait to see the particulars of the deal. It's worth noting again that the two teams that lose in the conference finals are assigned picks 29,30 OA in the draft, regardless of record. The SC finals teams get 31 and 32.

Lottery protection could be the reason for the 2nd rounder turning to either a '24 OR '25 first rounder. IE if, for some reason, Rangers end up out of the playoffs next year, Hawks get the '25 first.

For all you pessimists out there (I'm recovering one myself). The worst possible scenario would be the Rangers losing to the Stars in the SC finals this year and then just missing the playoffs next year and then bottoming out in '25.
