wow that's a solid hit. Look at Kakko get right back up.
He didn't want to be embarrassed. It's his first day. First impressions.

Agreed. That said, and I know it's probably a bad idea overall for a few reasons, but part of me would like to see the guys use smaller lighter shoulder pads in training camp (or even, in general). Why? Its hockey and its competition. This is how the players get ready.
I'm all for a physically tough camp.
Let's be the team that take BS from no one.
I know. Right?Wait. What are the chance that there are two of us posting at the same time?
That hit was great. Textbook safe, so close to the boards and square into the chest. That hit wasn't going to separate his shoulder.
That ‘covers’ his salary until you have to replace themI'm still standing with Kreider 5yrs 6.2 per.
I've been chided for being overly optimistic, but our 3 emerging elcs, preliminary I admit, but still only info we have to go on so far, have looked good/good enough.
We should look at trading Skjei and Deangelo as soon as we have an offer that is high mark for fair market value.
That covers CK salary if nothing else emerges.

This is why you don't give away money because "we're rebuilding."Namestnikov is the hair in this soup right now. 4 mil on a throw away forward that is blocking at least someone Andersson or maybe even Kravtsov from being able to start with This team. Can’t wait for him to be gone
Howden is prone to the same thing. The hit wasn't too bad. Better now so he's used to it. People need to remember that there's different kind of "physicality" in hockey. It doesn't just mean dishing out hits and having the hammer like in EA NHL Games. Jagr was a very physical player because his game was all about puck protection and board work. Not saying Kaako will be on that level (if he's anywhere close hey that's awesome) but like Chytil a lot of his game is puck protection, cycling, winning one on ones as opposed to pure finesse off the rush. Jumbo Joe took a little time to get used to it as did Lecavelier. Both guys had long careers (in Joe's case he's still going).
As for Mr. Trouba, he's always had an edge to his game but what's happened so far in his young career is he's had what I call "Ryan Callahan syndrome" where if you play too physical all the time it's going to lead to you missing 5-15 games a year, which is my "issue" with Trouba. He's THE MAN on this defensive corps so he's needed on the ice. He's going to have to dial it down by 25%.
Also especially because he sucks more and because the team will have stupid reasons to bring him back (he's a veteran who does things and stuff).Strome is a bigger problem than Namestnikov especially because we could have just bought him out for almost nothing.

But this goes back to the point that we never should have brought back Spooner to begin with. Every metric in the world predicted him crashing into a wall.
Ok, I like guys who can play center and wing but if you suck at both...Well they are already starting with that saying how versatile he is. Can play center or wing. Up and down the lineup. Etc.

Up and down the lineup implies and inherent limitation. Good players just play up in the lineup.
HOCKEY; Rangers' Top Pick Is a Bust On Day 1
I think I saw this oldie but goodie on twitter yesterday, but if it was here, enjoy reading it twice
I don't think anyone wants Kreider to leave. If it was at all possible to keep him, let's do it. But after last year with Zuc and Hayes (they had much better chances of resigning) the writing is on the wall. I hate these long term contracts they gave this summer that tied our hands. But what's done is done. And Kreids looks like the odd man out. With all the talk this week about wanting north south guys and not having many. Are we really going to trade away Chris Kreider with what he brings to this team? I'm still not so sure.
He is gonna produce for years I believe. He has always been a strong and healthy specimen. But, most likely he will have a good year playing with Kakko or whoever, and his value will rocket, taking us out of the bidding. When JD said, Kreids having a strong year, will be good for everybody, he meant it. Good for Kreids future contract, good for value in return, good for our cap space and good for whoever trades for him.Kreider imo would be a problem at any more that 4 years. I just dont see his health and production being good beyond that. Just my opinion. If he is looking for a 7 year deal he is outta here.
Agreed hated when we got him and his 4 million is impossible to get rid of it seems.
