Post-Game Talk: RANGER vs scumbag

Idk what Kenny and Joe were watching thinking Vesey-Chytil-Kravstov was their best line. Chytil looked like Chytil. Vesey was Vesey. And Kravtsov was just….there most of the game. They didnt hurt the team. Chytil had some jump and good legs.

But i was severely underwhelmed by Kravtsov. Especially with how Jovo worships him. I’m not surprised though. Many here think they know better than Gorton, Drury, Gallant, etc. There is a reason this kid didn’t make the team 2 years ago. Last year. He just isn’t active enough. Not engaged enough. Not competing enough. Meanwhile you watch kids like Othmann, Sykora, Trivigno, and a vet like Rydahl. Those guys are motoring all game long. They are engaged. Their legs are moving. They are taking the body. They are going to the dirty areas. Kravtsov has reacted to not making previous teams like he is owed something. He has shown me nothing to think maybe the Rangers brass made some egregious mistake.

Jones needs to be the 3LD. He was impressive. He looks like he belongs.

Jones has looked pretty solid when he gets burn, can’t keep him burried, deserves a shot. Especially when you consider some of the others that have been given run ahead of him.

I agree with all of this. All of it.

I think Vesey makes this team. And then I think it comes down to Rydahl/Carpenter. I think they both play a similar game. Both responsible. Both can PK. Both will check. I think Carpenter gets the edge because of Gallant, but I thought Rydahl had the slight edge tonight.

Kakko quietly had a really sound good game.

Othmann feels like one of those cases where everyone clamors for him to make the team because he forces it with his preseason play, then in three years he's 22 putting up 30 points a year and getting not a ton of ice time and the same people that called for him to come straight to the NHL say we ruined his development by calling him up too early.

The NHL/CHL agreement that keeps 19 year olds from the AHL needs to go. At the very least for 1st round NHL picks. I understand the CHL is a business and losing some of their best players hurts those leagues both on and off the ice, but IMO it's time for a change.

Yea he definitely didnt have a good game but you could tell most of that was him holding his stick too tight.

By the end of the preseason he will shake that off.

Good game overall. Wish we got a few more PP chances to see the younger guys play with the puck more.

Kravtsov on the PP left some to be desired, but I thought he looked pretty good with Chytil and Vesey at 5v5, set up a couple of dangerous shots from the slot area.

Looks like Chytil, Kakko, and Miller still have that confidence from the playoffs, love to see it.

I thought they were the best line too.

They allowed virtually nothing against and generated a few really good chances and had the most sustained zone time of any of the lines. Was a lot of that Chytil just straight beasting out there? Sure, but his linemates weren't bad either. Krav sucked a sweaty grundle on the PP, but he was okay at ES. I don't want Vesey to make the team either, but I thought he was mostly good as well.

Of the fowards who don't have a spot, I liked Sykora's game the most tonight (Excellent along the walls and broke up 4 or 5 exits by the islanders) and Rydahl after that. The latter really intrigues me as a 4th liner/PK'er because hes got good wheels and hes so damn long.
