On the kids line..

I thought all three kept answering the bell tonight.

Kakko really controlled play (until the third when it was a lot of special teams play)
Lafrienere clearly can hang at 2RW and had something cooking with Trochek (not to mention that he was PKing tonight!)
Chytil didn't play as much but considering who he played with, I thought he showed he can drive his own line in the bottom six well. Also 75% on the dots tonight!

VK's injury makes GG decision pretty easy. Get Blais healthy and back in there and let's keep it going.

He did.

But he didn’t look as dominant as he did tonight. Zibanejad was an absolute monster on the ice. He could have easily had a few more points.

The jump in his skates and anticipation of the play is what stood out to me. He looked in midsession form while the other 75% of the players tonight looked like they were playing their first few games.
Did you know he had 8pts in 2 games

Some scattered thoughts.

Hedman on Krav was gross and strange it wasn’t called in a game with so much pp time.

He's a 'name' that has 'earned it', and it was against a rookie, so he gets even extra slack. This is how the NHL manages games.

Did you look at their toi tonight? That is one of the only things I am upset about. Kakko getting 13 mins when he was one of our two best players the first period is very frustrating. Chytil earned his (only) 12 mins on ice tonight though...

Seriously since Brian Leetch who is as good as Miller (Rangers drafted and developed)? Maybe Kovalev?
Kid is just so damn good. No dman on this team can do what he can.
Assuming you're not including Goaltenders on this one lol

i would be upset but the whole game was spent on special teams it feels like. I do feel like without Laf and Kakko , Chytil struggled.

Yeah I still don’t see anything egregious about the Hedman Kravtsov play
It's the same as any NHL player. If they see an opponent on the ice they do something/anything to impede them from being able to get up. Kravtsov isn't use to this kind of stuff in NA leagues and protecting yourself.

Yeah but that was mostly driven by 1) special teams play and 2) Kravtsov leaving and Gallant alternating Goodrow between the bottom lines. Lafreniere and Kakko were #1 and #3 in EVTOI tonight, respectively

Was worried a bit in the first period. We had very few clean breakouts for much of the period. But after the first, things clicked a lot better for the entire team.

It's only one game, but Carpenter seems like an upgrade over Rooney. Rooney is faster, might have more offense, but Carpenter is stronger on FOs. Stronger in the corners, even laid a few big hits and is much better defensively. And to think they also have Rydahl in the A.

The Hedman move on Kravy was pretty bad. But two things that stood out about that: 1 -- Kravy might get this sorta treatment from other teams for a while. Not only because he needs to prove he can handle the physicality, but also, other NHL players might have been paying attention to Kravy forcing himself into the NHL the way he did, and they are likely to test him a whole bunch more. 2 -- I don't know if his teammates saw what happened, but a bit surprised there was no attempt at retaliation. That play was vintage Tampa though. They were quite dirty in the playoffs. We are going to have to find a way to work through that with them and some other teams, but they're the most dirty team in the league right now.

Too many players had good games to bother get into it all, but this team feels different. It's only one game, but something feels different. (in a good way).
