Here
best i've seen them skate as a team for 60mins in many, many years
Felt like they had something to prove against TB which is a great sign.

There were a lot of years going back into the Sather dark years where home openers were a lot of going through the motions shit. Come out for the introductions, play a sloppy game. Maybe a win maybe an OTL.

The combination of youth skill vets and the experience this group has had as a team has them doing everything with a purpose. Seems like each player has their own unique style and knows how their games fit into what the team needs to succeed.

But tonight the leaders stepped up, Trouba, Bread, Igor and especially Mika had very good games and set the tone.

I badly want it to be tomorrow so I can use the whole weight of my heart to put $20 on Zbad to win the Hart.

Some scattered thoughts.

Hedman on Krav was gross and strange it wasn’t called in a game with so much pp time.

Trocheck is going to pay dividends on that line - he does so much of the stuff that Panarin needs in a linemate and that wasn’t getting done the last few years.

The kids, pretty much to a man, look noticeably more confident out there. Miller and Kakko have some crazy kind of swagger going, and I thought Jones and Schneider both looked way more comfortable than they had before.

Panarin’s shift after Mika’s PP goal was just ludicrous. He had the puck on a string and was shrugging guys off left and right.

For TB’s part, admittedly having Cirelli back will be big but gotta wonder if they’re getting close to having hollowed out too much behind the stars to keep up that elite tip top play.

I don't know why some people dont like Trocheck. He's exactly what we need as a #2.
Minus the empty net miss lol I thought he was exactly what we needed. Amazing to see faceoff wins. If he can just work on his shot in that slot area for the pp he will put up some good numbers as well.

Very clear early season sloppiness all around, but everyone played a good game. Keep that effort and we will have another strong season, hopefully.

Except Krav. He is a weakling. I'm gonna say him and Blais are packaged for a real RW this year.

Didn’t he have like 5 goals 8pts in 2 games to start the year a few years back?

2019-2020 he had 8 points in his first two games.

He did.

But he didn’t look as dominant as he did tonight. Zibanejad was an absolute monster on the ice. He could have easily had a few more points.

The jump in his skates and anticipation of the play is what stood out to me. He looked in midsession form while the other 75% of the players tonight looked like they were playing their first few games.
