Ya know the funny thing is,.. Chytil has more to give. Even though he's on a 4 game point streak, he's still acquiescing to Panarin and Strome. Once he starts carrying the play like he did on the third line, he'll be even better. But right now, he seems content to relinquish the puck to his new linemates. He has that ability to carry the puck with speed into the O zone, but has been leaving it up to his new linemates. I think with a little more confidence, Chytil could be a go to guy on that line. With his speed, I could see a lot give and go's with Panarin in the future. Much like what Kreids and Zibad do regularly.

Oddly enough, I think this stretch will be really good for his development. He's had to be the guy carrying the puck, sometimes with less than ideal linemates for a while now. Now he's on a line where other guys expect to have the puck, and it's forcing him to watch the ice for the open spaces and move into those spaces. Hopefully, he can come out the other side being able to do both things a little bit better.

Couldnt catch the whole game as I was at a birthday party (and had a few), but from what I saw it looked like team who was playing their 5th of a road trip and missing key players. It was sloppy, but we won. Thats what matters.
This is a year you add and big time. I was reluctant at first and I dont think you give up all your assets, but hertl is being thrown around and he has 3 teams he would accept a trade to. Nyr is one of them. That lowers the price depending on whom the other are. If its tampa or vegas, that just means they are cap strapped and we have the upperhand, lowering our price. The whole premise of the sharks pitch is to persuade him that they still have a lot in the tank. I dont see it and once they slip, an extension seems unlikely. That being said, we wouldnt need any cap retention so maybe we get away with kravtov/chytil and a 2nd? I think that would be fair and dont underestimate hertl. Hes Bergeron lite and a perfect 2c.

I worry but not really that nemeth will stay on this team for the playoff run. What im not worried about is whether we keep him. Hes gone by the summer I think. Schneider looks solid and thats what we need.

This team can become better. Zib is over .5 on faceoffs now btw. We really need to fill the 3c and maybe a top 9 winger. Goodrow on the 4th provides insulation in case of injury (which is likely in a tough playoff series).

Im happy. We are good. I expect us to win now. I really didnt think Id be saying that yet. Last year, i pegeed the rangers going 2nd in their division and that was purely on hope that laf hit. I think with gallant, we might have? He has been drury's best move and it has paid dividends. Dont get me weong, gorton set us up but theres a reason he has been fired before a run. Is it a good or fair one? I dont know. I place my trust in drury and hope he delivers on the trade deadline day. I just missed playoff hockey. Become a die hard after the ott series and have grinded through the years. Thank god I was patient!

We could just stop the anthem. That'd be great

Good game by a good team.

Philly is a team that failed but that is built for success now. Yeo has been brought in to do away with the classic AV issues and his veteran team has of course bought in.

It’s a fantasy to think that you can come in and roll over a team like this with a ton of hard working, experienced, character players. Philly played a good game defensively.

Ryan Reaves should be the teams 13th forward, he’s a liability when he plays, he can’t skate, and the Rangers never have the puck when he’s out there.
To be fair, he did negate an icing by outracing the defender to the dots.

If you can slide Chytil to wing and it’s the best he’s looked all year which has been a nightmare for him, and give that line some speed while picking up a hertl to center Goodrow and lafreniere well that my friends would be some serious depth
If they do get Hertl as a rental, I’d hope Chytil was part of the deal.

Miller too often relies on his reach when guys go wide and when you reach you stop skating so if it doesn’t work your beat. Yes, he was on his off side covering for Fox who stepped up, but your a big strong dude, don’t reach and stop skating, use your body to ride him wide. We’ve seen Miller do that this year plenty, gotta break those old habits.

No. He dances like a white guy.

(I’m white too… but still)
P.S. if Larry reads this:

It’s not that your bad. Admittedly, I get hyped. But I’d trade you for this unhinged meth addict in a heartbeat:

At this point, he’s a better ambassador for the sport than Connor McDavid.

I am not a big fan of Chytil on the wing, but interestingly I think he has been able to play to his strength on that line and that line has also benefited from having him on it. Chyts has supported Strome well which can be needed and so forth.

As to Strome, he keeps pushing his bar and plays better and better.

Anybody who thought this was going to be easy just doesn't get it. It was the 5th game of a 5 game road trip flying back from the west coast, and missing 3 forwards. That was a gutty win. 25-10-4 while playing 24 of 39 on the road with injuries and covid issues is simply outstanding.

All true except every team getting pushed around by Covid.

The almost tanker on tanker smash up that led to Flyers 2nd goal would have been a huge hit . Reaves and MacEwen both at full speed when MacEwen sucked it back and missed a likely concussion by Reaves . Was a great rush by the young PEI player MacEwen who I thought had a great game last night...I figured he would against Gallant and Kelly all Island boys .

I love how vally said the team has balls.
I’ve been saying that since about game 10 and the transformation under gallant and with the summer moves has been apparent.
Also have to give credit to all of those who said chytil is a winger.
I don’t know whether he’s having success because of the move to wing, or playing with panarin/strome, but whatever it is, since he’s been moved to wing he’s played well over the last 4-5 games.
I still don’t know if his future is with NYR, but he’s got me intrigued at least to see him get more minutes on the wing
