Wow after seeing all that snow in Buffallo and NY I'm seriously debating getting a winch. I know my truck does well in snow but dunno if it could handle that much. I've always wanted one for offroading but hated the idea of modding the bumper or doing bar work.

I say this cause I'm in Toronto area just a a few hours away. We seriously got lucky to dodge that system
Toronto is generally on the wrong side of the lake to get much lake effect snow like Buffalo does.
Because of the lake effect, Buffalo averages nearly twice the annual snowfall of Toronto.

have to be careful with wenches , they are strong but the weight of a truck stuck in snow or mud is massive. It can pull your truck out or pull your frame in to a pretzel.Beef the frame. Best bet is buy a welder and play with it. Dont weld near glass as weld splatter will embed itself in glass and you will wonder why your windows are rusting.

Sound advice for a truck just about to enter "classic" status. I have to check the date code but I think in just over a year I can register it and get it appraised.

I'm probably better off letting CAA do all the heavy lifting these days and just take it easy on the boy...and me.

The problem with registering a vehicle as classic? It severely limits how many miles you can drive it per year.
If you plan to do so regularly, don't register for classic plates.

i got you. this is sound advice.

Youd be correct. In Canada I think it's 8000 km per year. In 6 years I've only put on 30, 000 so I'm well within that range

In MN we luckily don't have a mileage restriction, but there is this...
Collector vehicles are to be operated only as a “Collector's Item” and may not be used for general transportation. Generally driving to and from collector events (shows, parades) is acceptable.
BS IMO.

Pretty sure I have a bad caliper on the passenger side rear. Last week I started hearing squealing from one of my brakes, but couldn't tell which. I knew it was too soon for wear to get low, so I thought it must be excessive brake dust. It would go away, then come right back a day later. Generally not something you even consider urgent.

Well, yesterday I heard faint grinding at a stoplight...I was like WTF?!?

The grinding got more distinct on the way home from work. Get into the garage and shine a light on my rotors, rear driver's, front driver's, front passenger all look completely normal... rear passenger now shows a distinct groove.

Premature brake wear sucks... called the local euro repair shop (Nur Teknik) and have it scheduled to get looked at and repaired next Friday. Thank goodness it's stick shift, can go easy on the brakes until then.

Caliper may have a stuck piston?

My brakes are voodoo. I was complaining a couple months ago about a turned rotor... it just fixed itself 😂

It's not completely frozen, but at this point I'm sure it's not releasing completely either. It's not impacting most driving situations anyway... it's releasing some of the way, but there must be some faint contact (or was when there was still pad to wear ). When the brake dust type squeal would happen, it would only be on approach to a light, after a 2nd or 3rd instance of braking during approach. The grinding only happens after the 2nd instance of braking during approach. I think it's clear that it eventually clears, but when applying them, the additional braking sequence pushes it in further, and is likely much slower to release than it should be, and doesn't release the full distance out it should either.

Either way, I made it to work today using zero brakes in roundabouts and only very light braking at stoplights. I just start slowing down sooner and cycle down through the gears to let the car slow itself down for the most part. It should get me by until next Friday.

Just ordered a Highlander Hybrid for my wife, and was told it's a six month wait. Hoping a bunch of people cancel and wait for this so my wait time decreases.

And I wonder if the return of the Grand Wagoneer and this signal vehicles returning to the 90s trend of "Grand" everything.

I'd have to check the posts... but I think we waited about 6 months for the new Rav4. Granted we had trucker strikes here at the time which hindered things. Do you know where it's getting built?

Believe it's being built in Princeton, Indiana. Like I said, I'm really hoping some people ahead of me on the list cancel and wait because the six month wait is killing me.

I hope you have better luck than I’m currently having.

Ordered a BMW I4 M50 and was told to expect 6 months for delivery…it has since been 7 months and no timetable on delivery :help:

Yikes! Not good. I certainly hope I do, as well.

It wouldn't be nearly as bad, because we can find Highlanders locally, but my wife has to have a hybrid system. And all the bells and whistles.
