Lots going on lately. My aunt is staying with me while she's trying to go through chemo and radiation. I'm not sure it's worth it at this point as she's too weak to begin with

But the "garage" part is my other aunt and cousin came to visit today in a Nissan Titan. No idea what year, but I poked and prodded around like usual. Build quality overall seemed decent but the driver seat was just uncomfortable. Truck gets a 6.5/10

This was my cousins truck and I totally ribbed her for driving a Nissan. She grew up on Chevy so Im not sure what went wrong lol

Thanks bro. Everyone here is just pitching in the best we can. It's esophagus cancer so she can't swallow food. She had been living for 2 months on protein shakes etc before they finally "installed" a feeding tube in her stomach. But then they started chemo like 2 days later before she could get any strength back. Kinda dumb if you ask me. Like she can't even get out of bed or a chair without help, or walk.

As for me, I've been sleeping in a tent for the last 2 weeks so that she could have my room in the basement. And your damn right I brought out my tv and PlayStation!

You're a good dude. You're a really good dude. I hope that when your time is up someday (hopefully very, very far in the future) you get to go to a place where you get all the mid-2000's Chevy Tahoes you want free of charge.

EDIT: and that f***ing heated jacket you got screwed out of, that too.

What's this trend I'm seeing of guys puting tow hooks on the back of Acuras and Honda Civics? And not just the hook...the hook has another hook dangling about. Like wut?

makes you look like a serious street racer apparently. that's the only thing i can think of. That's been a thing since like the early 2000s iirc. Maybe it died off and its retro cool again?

edit: or maybe its to try to tell ppl you only race on the track so it's a good thing? idk. wouldn't think you'd want ur buddy trying to tow you off to a side street using that thing.

I don't even think I'd trust them in a towing situation. Any recoveries I do, I just hook on the rim and drag. Granted I've never tried to recover said vehicle with said hook. I just think it's the weirdest mod

They're not intended for towing anything, they're intended for use in getting the vehicle towed up onto a flatbed. The flat bed hooks a cable up to it and can pull the car up.
Also for pulling the car out of the ditch if it gets stuck in the snow.

It was never intended to be used for the car to tow something else.

People see the tow hook in by the spare tire though, and see where it bolts into the bumper once you take off the cover for where it bolts in... and kids just want to start playing around with it. Audi's, BMW's and some Subaru's come with them stock. My S4 has one.

The manual strictly says it's not for towing anything else, just for assisting in getting the car on a flatbed or pulling it out of a ditch etc. Yet, go to youtube and you will find people playing tug-a-war...

always thought they were just for track use or short-distance emergency like if you want to get a borked car off to the side of the road. i suspect it's mostly cosmetic if you see one hanging off a bumper. like a car septum ring. i know they make fancy ones because they've come up when i'm on sites looking for parts. i guess you gotta shave those ounces off the factory tow-hook if you really want to murder that challenger next to you

I was literally just wondering this earlier in the week. It has absolutely made a come back. It’s always a strap dangling with a hook at the end of it, just flapping in the breeze. For the best down clapped out imports these days, I highly doubt it’s ever used, or even trustworthy. Purely aesthetic. “Look at me, i need this for track days!”

What a weird day. My neighbor recently passed away and today I was asked to clean up the garage in prep to sell the house. So I'm going through like 60 years of junk and just tossing things out...old gaskets, penny nails, washers...you know stupid shit you collect over the years

Well some lady shows up and freaks out that I'm putting stuff in the garbage as if it's gold. I just said fine....you do it, and left.

I was going to pick up a Huracan EVO Spyder for the same thing, then I checked my bank account.
Yeah once you step up from a little econo cruiser the prices sky rockets. Even just upping it from Corolla type car to a Camry or Impala was double the money when I booked.

Almost in Monterey, gorgeous drive so far.

Those that know my posts on this board know I'm all about high-revving, naturally aspirated engines. I despise turbochargers (superchargers I consider on a case-by-case basis but I don't like "supercharger whine") and like the screamers. I have a mental shrine built to cars like the Lexus LFA, Cayman GT4RS, Aventador SVJ, etc.

I just watched some videos on the C8 Z06. This might be the first Corvette I've ever really, really daydreamed about; as I said my personal preferences are the screamers and I instinctually don't identify that with the Vette. This thing reminds me of a goddamn Ferrari, and I mean a GOOD Ferrari, not the turbocharged hybrid social pandering bullshit that plagues their lineup today.

Would I want it even more with a short-geared manual? Probably. Would I still sell a kidney for one with a dual-clutch? I only need one of those things, right? Would I ever be allocated one even if I could afford it, as someone that has never owned a Corvette? Not a chance. Oh well.

You know what? I'm going to plead ignorance on the rotary cars. I can't say I've ever heard it before.

Not all turbocharged cars sound like crap, but I still believe turbos are basically the equivalent of car BDSM for those into that sort of thing: you're ball-gagged but highly stimulated? Or something? WTF kind of analogy was that? I dunno.

I super-love the F1 and Indy cars from the early 90's, with the NA V12's revving to 850 billion RPM. Man oh man was that a sound...
were they using nitrogen to open and close valves then?Springs couldn't keep up .The rotary is interesting because piston engines have much reciprocating mass where the rotary has a spinning triangle sweeping a out of round shape to create compression.pretty genius.

I went to a Indy practice in Denver . the sound was amazing ..
