I've been over this thing for a few hours. Nothing about it gives me a boner. The brakes look really small, the tires are shit even though they're Michelin and the coolant is already below the full line.

Overall I'm giving this a 6 out of 10 on initial inspection. And my gosh does Toyota love nuts n bolts...ive never seen so many in my life. There's even parts machined for bolts but no bolts...

During the winter I noticed poor heat from the vents. So today I decided to flush the heater core. Pulling of the hoses I was expecting to see it all gunked up, but there was nothing. Absolutely perfect. I ran the hose for a bit and all that came out was coolant...duh...

So that all sounds like good news...but what about my heat problem? Any ideas?

I'm literally the dumbest poster on this entire forum so forgive the dumb question, but did you only notice a problem with the heater on specifically? There's not a general air flow issue regardless of setting?

The vents blow fine if that's what you're asking. I just want it hot

that's what I was wondering about, yes.

and Mother Nature said "got you fam!" if your weather is anything like ours right now.
Lol you ass 😂 and I did the a/c pulley delete mod for the horsepower and the bitches. So when I say "cool" i really mean ambient temperature

But seriously that a/c belt disintegrated years ago, and I've never tried fixing it. Not that its hard to change, but I doubt thats the only issue so never bothered

I feel like "The Horsepower and the Bitches" could be a country band name.

Sounds like a bunch of cost cutting measures. It's a hybrid, you aren't supposed to be rock hard unless you're a hyper miler, you drive it for a while and check the efficiency. Small brakes? How aggressive do hybrids get driven? Shit tires, well I can't explain that one other than to say I have had cars with trash factory rubber that drove COMPLETELY different with new tires. Low coolant should be filled, if it's not that bad I'm sure Toyota will top it off at the first service. If it's bad then obviously get it done sooner. Maybe certain parts are reused on other models and mounted differently? If it drives quiet then I guess the love of bolts is paying off.

I'm interested in the gaps and rigidity on body panels, quality of exterior trim, how the shifts are through all gears and under all levels of throttle. Cuz on my sorento hybrid, they are ALL points of contention for me and I'm 16k miles in.

Did you flush heater core?
Low fluid won't circulate and cause this or if it's air locked and not circulating, none of these are serious issues flush core and try it.
Edit ,didn't catch key word core in your post ,maybe air locked.

I did flush it. Hoping it was air locked and will sort itself out now. It was blowing hot after but of course it's almost a 100 degrees here so it's hard to tell lol. I'll revisit this in the fall when it cools down

The body lines are very clean so I'll give that a 10. Not much to complain about there

The exterior trim is ok. Not a ton of it but it fits well. There was some play though when feeling around. Grade 7

It had just came home today from a trip, so I can't comment on the shifting. I've only driven it to the store once.

Today I'm noticing the tire sidewalls have a very brown hue, now that the tire shine has worn off. No amount of scrubbing took it off. Tires are dated 2122 so pretty new. Reapplied tire shine and good for now

Rear seats dont fold completely flat. At a 15 or 20 degree angle. But the back of the seats actually gets their own mats which is cool.

So to sum it up.... I still don't know how I feel. I need to drive it more and see how this AWD system works. Which probably isn't fair cause again these tires are something you put on your grandma's Buick LeSabre

First thing that went wrong on my car at 75k miles was one of the 17 vent motors went out and I was left in the middle of MN winter with only ambient air. No AC to clear moisture or anything. Air blew fine but it was all outside air, all the time.

Ooof now that would suck. I at least had some heat. It just wasn't as hot as it should be.

In high school, my very first car had a bad head gasket and heater core, and no heat. There was no way to clear ice/frost. I felt your pain. Granted, it was 20+ years ago and the car was a true piece (1990 Continental). Everything exploded at once. Head gasket, heater core, air bags in the suspension, suspension air compressor, and transmission all shit out in a matter of months. I drove it until the transmission went, because it literally could not drive another mile at that point.

I'm fine with driving in a freezing cold car, but when it is severely limiting visibility it is obviously a major issue

Developed a slow leak in the right rear on the Shelby after swapping tires over a month ago. Just pulled in to service to have it checked out. About a week to two weeks and the low pressure trips, always the right rear always down to 25psi by the time i get a chance to top it off.

finally had a strut start leaking. it was so obvious once it was fixed but the slow deterioration wasn't anything that couldn't be sort of attributed to poor road conditions and the swap from 17" snows to 19" summers. ugh. so much money.

Yikes, that sucks.

Turned out the tire had a small puncture. Just unlucky. They were able to patch it fine though. Still, hate that it had to happen to a brand new tire so quickly.

Audi replaced my tire for free instead of patching it. can't recall how many miles i had on them but it was less than a season and i didn't have to deal with the mfctr warranty process. why no replace? they're practically new right?
