I love Rodriguez as a bench player, i wouldn't even consider DFA him.

He can't hit, but he can prevent runs with his defense.

literally he should be a late inning defensive insert and nothing more. there is no reason why we shouldn't start with a bat heavy lineup and insert the better defensive guys once we have a late lead and are already into the bullpen as the season winds down.

As for Snider, the guy is a career second half guy who just really found a good swing late last year... he started slow and never got a chance to rebound this year. I wouldn't be surprised if he is a quality bat for the club late this year. he has more than he showed to date this year

From what was a weakness the bench should be now a strength no matter who is on it.

Rodriguez is a bench player, hes not going to be in the starting lineup in the playoffs.

He would be used late in the game as a defensive replacement if the Pirates have a lead.

Bingo. Rodriguez has utility as a defensive replacement. Snider doesn't.

Snider is a 4th outfielder, which isn't a necessity on this team right now. I hope he plays his way onto that roster, but considering the playoff roster has to be set at the end of this month I'm not holding my breath on that. Ideally Snider provides us depth in September, but he's playing more for next year than this year. I'd be happy with going into next season with Snider as our de facto 4th outfielder.

TNT nailed it...the bench is going from a weakness to a strength regardless. We're arguing over who is getting a roster spot that, hopefully, won't even be used.

Also there's a roster spot or two not being taken into account, because there's no way in hell we're carrying 12 pitchers in the playoffs. That 5th starter and 7th bullpen spots aren't going to be used under any circumstance, so we'll likely carry 10 pitchers into a series.

Byrd hurts the Bucs again just in a different uniform this time.

Sixth homer against them this season.

Locke must have some good blackmail material on Hurdle. 5-1 including two homers, one by the pitcher and old Clinton doesn't even have anyone warming in the BP.

Oh and I'm another true hater of Locke. He can't be gone soon enough.

edit: and now he can't even field his position. Christ he is waste on the diamond...

Locke should never make the 25 man, after rosters expand. Literally some rando from A ball could do better. Good thing we have cumpton, glasnow, kingnam? And taillon to push him out of a roster spot next year.

Yep this is their chance to make a run on the division and the bum loses the game at the giants first at bat.

Three things you can count on in this world. Death, taxes, and Locke giving up at least one run in the 1st.
