The Pirates already practically have no chance of coming back. Blue with some ridiculous strike calls for Bumgarner last inning. Guy walks the 8 hitter, damn near walks a pitcher trying to bunt, hits a batter and gets calls on balls 8 inches off the plate during the next 2 ab's because of the name on the back of his jersey.

Mlb umpiring ladies and gentlemen.

Hurdle is kind of conceding the game, he wants to save the bullpen.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Rodriguez come into pitch later in the game if the Giants extend there lead by a few more runs.

You should never concede a game while in a division race and that goes doubly for a WC chase.

You have to be careful how much you use the guys in the bullpen, when you use them to much they eventually get worn down.

Since the all star break the Pirates starters haven't went deep into games, almost every game the starter is out of the game after 5 or 6 innings.

The good news is in September they will be able to add some arms to the bullpen.

They have a fresh arm in the BP.

At the end of the year when the total games won is calculated and you missed it by that one or two games you not only conceded the games but also the season.

With the way that the Cards and especially the Cubs have been playing of late I just don't see how you can concede even one game.

The Bucs never gave up but the Giants got a couple big double plays late in the game.

Nice tainted no-hitter by Fiers with the obvious use of pine tar.

Maybe he should contact the Patriots organization and come up with some BS excuses that try to insult everyone's intelligence saying he didn't know it was there.

Last night was frustrating - Baumgarner was definitely off, and Locke reverted to batting practice Locke, just when he had started to look more like a plausible #4 starter. Couple that with an offense that failed to put up a crooked number in two or three pretty golden chances, and it's a loss. Cardinals lost so it doesn't hurt too bad, but hopefully Cole can step up in a big way today, and put some serious pressure on the Giants Sunday.

This is one reason I do not like stats. Cole's stats after the all-star break would suggest he's not pitching well. That's far from the truth. The defense around him has been terrible and the bats haven't helped him either.

Well it depends what stats you use and the context in which they are used. Who cares about wins and losses? That's a team stat in reality. I think Cole has been poor by his standards since the break. He hasn't really been bad though, just a tough stretch.

Can someone please shove a big wad of cotton into Blass's mouth and duct tape it shut?

I'll never understand the city's admiration for that mental midget.

He didn't do himself any favors walking Blanco. And allowing a hit to a .198 hitter.

You gotta tip your hat to Blanco on the walk, it was a long at bat that Blanco fouled off a bunch of pitches.

The hit was just bad luck, he gave up a routine pop up that would of been caught if the infield wasn't brought in.
