We need to get offense ASAP - the Red Sox have some guys in the backend of the pen who will certainly lock down a 2-1 lead.

We've missed some opportunities with hard hit balls and then also stuff like Hayes running into an out. Just every way to lose imaginable. It's not a good play by Hayes but with how things are going, hard to blame him for taking a shot.

Just can't shake the feeling that if we don't somehow grit this one out, it's nightmare city with 4 games against the Brewers on deck.

Joe throwing to the plate, leading to an extra 90 feet given up. Suwinski and Hayes both thrown out trying to get an extra 90. This team has some of the absolute lowest iq.

this is tolerated by the hayseed at the top of the house. It’s not the losing. It’s the bad baseball with players that come with the athletic metrics and pedigree to perform well.

Has the coaching at all 3 of the Pittsburgh sports teams ever been this bad? Tomlin is probably the best of the bunch, but that is not saying much at this point.

Well, every Pirate fan I know called this losing streak. Most expected it to go 8-10 games.

Because he has an ERA over 7... in f***ing Mexico?
So? He's probably not used to the altitude there. It's like spring training for him. He'd immediately be the pirates best pitcher.

They’ve already committed the money to Shelton. No way they waste it
Can you imagine how incompetent you'd have to be to commit money to Shelton after knowing he's one of the worst managers record wise to start his career in history?

But it's not incompetence, it's downright sabotage at this point. No way you can keep doubling and tripling down on these guys that are the worst at what they do in every case.

Sounds about right. A couple winning seasons in a row and people will expect it all the time. That'd require money to be spent. We can't have that lol.

A serious organization would respond to the absolute shit show this weekend was. It's one thing for hitters to be scuffling, but to be as irresponsible and careless as they were while getting repeatedly smoked at home by a bad team missing its two best hitters is just unacceptable.

I really wish Cutch would have called it a career after last season. The guy is washed and it's sad to watch this display.

in most situations, the GM would be pressured to make a move by end of month if things don’t change. But he doesn’t have any pressure. And if they fire cherington, whoever they bring in is going to have the same problems. Because the dude at the top would buy 10 cent toilet paper to save a 34 cents.

The headline always talks about him being cheap with mlb payroll but the entire organization is being pinched.

Pirates have a good advantage with Jones going tonight vs Ross, who has turned in a good start but also struggled with command and been pretty hittable.

Feels like things either turn around or else Jones finally has a game where the other team gets to him and the slide worsens. Yesterday was already must-win IMO. I don't know what to call the day after a must-win.

It was so cringe listening to the Sportsnet Pitt announcers talking about how seasons have ebbs and flows as if anything this franchise has done for decades should give us confidence this is a bump in the road and not just what the team is yet again.

Is there a team with a worse percentage of prospects developed in the last 30 years? Keep in mind that Reynolds, Bay and Giles were all either major leaguers or deep into their minors careers when acquired.

All they can do is develop closers.
