Yeah, this is a pretty interesting one just in terms of its unprecedented status. As he points out in a follow-up tweet, Atlanta just vaulted themselves up from 29th in slot money to 10th. Given all the injured pitching prospects and Atlanta's track record with producing pitchers, I would not at all be surprised if this is a play that ends with them getting Lesko or Prielipp.

Kind of interesting for KC, as Waters had a decent amount of hype but has seemed to plateau in AAA a little bit (I say this without having watched him play an inning). He's excess depth for Atlanta, as is Hoffmann really. If KC can convert Waters into a good young MLB CF, then that's probably great value for pick 35. Seems to be a precursor to them moving Benintendi.

If Atlanta wanted to get really crazy in adding picks, I would not at all be upset to get Kyle Muller from them, but there's no reason to play the "let's convert every move to a possible Pirates move" game. He's great depth for them to have and might even supplant Anderson at some point.

Extremely unlikely and just presented as a "what if", but still fun to think about as we bide our time until the draft. New York is New York, but I still don't see the Mets as a kind of marquee organization that a young player might want to force themselves to. If the Mets could offer the highest price tag, then it could make some sense, but I'm still a little bit skeptical.

I think the likelier outcome is that Baltimore wavers on Jones but that he won't get past Arizona, like everyone says. Even if the Mets could pay 9M, Arizona can do that without blowing their next pick, and we could do the same without totally blowing our next picks -- more like slight underslot on one of them, slot on the other, and punting some of the 4th-10th round picks to save 250K here and there.

Jones also doesn't exactly seem like the slam dunk worthy of doing this for, though in fairness he's still a great five-tool guy and if there was a Rutschman type prospect, he's not getting past 1.1 anyways.

I'll be slightly surprised if Baltimore takes Jones, just because it doesn't fit with what we've seen over and over again from Elias. Them being on the upswing in MLB with the chance to either add at the deadline or just wait and have another wave of good prospects rising makes them more of a wildcard. They could go for someone like Lee who would easily be underslot and get to the MLB team fairly quickly, also allowing them to spend lavishly on upside guys with their next picks. My guess based just on speculation is that they'll surprise everyone and draft Collier. It gets them a similar outcome of slot spreading and Collier seems to be a guy that model-based teams like them would favor, not to mention his helium.

That would then likely leave Jones with the DBacks at #2. All signs point to there being no way he gets passed them, so if you are like me and looking for the most outrageous scenarios like Jones somehow falling to us, it's probably not worth thinking about it. The only wild stab I can make is if somehow people are wrong and the DBacks like Green more/ like him more than Jones' pricetag. If the top two then went Collier/Johnson/Lee #1, Green #2, Texas still probably figures out the money for Jones, but we have a serious advantage in draft pool over them and so it could get interesting.

All that said, this is just a bunch of wild ramblings spurred on by a totally implausible scenario. I think even if the Mets somehow did this, it's still reasonably likely that we'll be able to select one of Johnson or Collier, and if not them, then Green would be there. I said last night that I've settled on wanting Green, but I'd be really surprised if we picked him. I think the best rooting interest for us is Johnson or Collier, though I guess there's also an unlikely scenario where Holliday gets to us. I haven't looked too much into him. I'm preparing for us to take Lee and to try and talk myself into liking it as I hope someone worth it makes it to #36.

Oblique is no joke, so hopefully it's a minor discomfort and we just want to shut him down through the ASB and beyond in order to salvage his season. It's not exaggerating to say that he could be done, depending on how bad it is.

I don't really hate giving Cruz a scheduled day off vs. Rogers, but I'm not sure I'm indifferent to it when we're running Castillo out in the OF again and playing VanMeter. Just let him play in that situation, IMO.

I will be pretty annoyed if we don't get one of the young OFs up for some playing time this week.

July is the worst month to be a fan of this team due to the annoying roster handling. The deadline can’t come soon enough

I called Marisnick for Reynolds yesterday, so...finishes tooting own horn...

Keep BR down through the AS break then let him give it a go afterwards.

I saw that Greg Allen is now rehabbing. Aside from that, I'd happily bring back Swaggerty, Marcano and Madris. I suppose there's an outside chance that we're going to have to DH Reynolds in the 2nd half now, and that makes moving Vogelbach more likely. If we do that, give Swaggerty a look in center for a month. I don't have expectations for him but it can't hurt.

Rogers doesn't impress me.
Yeah, he's been really inconsistent for most of the year. It seems like he's dialed it in a little bit in this one, but is by no means as dominant as he was last year.

I doubt it would work out, but I'd be intrigued in some kind of trade, as I think if we could get him right, that would be an obvious nice boost and give us a LH option in the rotation.

Miami is in a pretty weird spot. I think the best thing for them might be to try and see if someone will pay a big price for Lopez and then build around Alcantara and the rest of the young pitchers, as well as obviously sign some free agent talent. I haven't seen anyone mention it, but they should try to get in the mix for Trea Turner.

Every time I've seen him, his command is really spotty. Definitely has life and movement on all of his pitches, he just seems to be off the plate way more than you'd like. Granted Ive seen him like 6 or 7 times. Brown did highlight he really hasn't been good since this time last year. Mainly command issues. Maybe he'd be a secondary piece in a large deal with Miami and you're buying him find that 2021 1st half. I'd pass personally.

Again, tip of the cap from Keller. Really strong game so far. Hope he can get us 1 more inning.

Yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of a lower key deal like Swaggerty or Bae straight up for him. Marlins dealing from strength and getting a bat, and us dealing from a position of relative depth for something we need.

I think it's too convoluted of an idea, though. It's a bit of a red flag if Miami would want to move on from him so soon. I think the book on him was always that the command wasn't precise, so it's not out of the question that 2021 was his peak.

Keller is looking fantastic tonight. Seems really comfortable leaning into his pitch mix, and even backing off the heat for the most part, which is leading to great movement to my eye, and he still has the ability to rev it up and blow it by guys if he needs to.

Hopeful that he's found the formular he needs.

Flipped through again so I could read the Geno spoilers after my evening 9 of golf.

Keller...it's really close. Loved his game today. Getting ahead, pitching to contact. Searage pitching, which is the right philosophy for him.

Marisnick with the absolute tank which was awesome.

Having seen Rogers now, he gives me Keller vibes in all the good and bad ways. He could also fall off, not unlike Jeff Locke did pretty quickly. The stuff is good but not overwhelmingly so.
