Jacobs franchise tag offer expires without being signed.
What are the options?

1) Sign the $10.1 mill tag
2) LV adds more than the tag like $11 mill or $12 mill
3) He doesn't sign and sits out the year
4) He waits the max of 11 weeks into the season to sign so that he gets a bump to $12 mill if they tag him again
5) LV signs another RB1, like Cook, then rescinds the tag on JJ making him a free agent and able to sign a multi year deal. (But, not seeing teams hand out 8 figure annual value to other team's RB).
6) LV could trade JJ and he'd have the same options as above.

Cap manipulation
Means that they eat that $3.13 mill in cap space later.

Littleton, Nassib, Drake, Leatherwood's dead caps of $23.3 mill were from the Gruden era signings.

The remaining $5.6 of dead cap is due to Carr's hit from the new regime giving Carr a new deal in 2022 which gave him $7.5 mill as a SB. The remaining $1 mill of the other 3 guys is minor and normal course of business.

With Barkley signing, see what JJ wants to do. I can't imagine that the Raiders brass intends to go into the season without someone ahead of Abdullah/White on the depth chart.

I'd probably offer some incentives for JJ to hit and stipulate that they don't tag him in 2024. I mean, you aren't getting anything other than a late day 3 pick anyways. Plus, the Raiders likely go and spend the freed up cap space from the Gruden dead cap hits that come off the books in 2024 or they have their own messes to eat in dead cap like Chandler Jones.

Williams won't cost that much. If they went after Cook, that would be a sign that they would rescind the tag on JJ if/when Cooks puts pen to paper as they wouldn't risk having to accommodate JJ's cap charge if he were to then sign the tag.

Shoe drop
He has no leverage aside from not showing up and risking an injury in camp. Expect a lot of White in weeks 1 and 2 until Jacobs is football ready.

I don't expect Zeigler/Josh to keep Jacobs in 2024. Probably let him walk. If LV is out of the race at the TDL, they move him for anywhere from a 3-5 round picks.

The Athletic thinks the Raiders may get (over) 7.5 wins this season.
Nfc north and afc east.
1-3 vs the afc east? Maybe squeeze out a second win?
Nfc north? Like 2-2? Maybe best case 3-1?
Need to be 3-3 within the division
3rd place schedule puts them against Pitt and Indy and cross over with Giants.

1-2 maybe 2-1 there.

Realistic 1-3 vs afc east. 2-2 vs nfc north. 3-3 within division. 2-1 vs 3rd place schedule.

8-7? That’s how I’d break it down .
Do not see 10 wins necessary to make the PO. A lot would have to fall their way.
