Getting closer to the deadline for his guarantees to vest. So far, he's only spoken with the Saints. Word was that he canceled a trip to Carolina to remain in NO for an extra day. Has he spoken with Carolina?

Who blinks first? Do the Raiders want to go into the true off-season with Carr's contract hanging over them? Does Carr want to risk not getting cut and thus he's not available when his desired destinations start going after free agent QBs like Jimmy, Tanny, Baker who become available in mid March? Do the other teams who really want Carr want to get into a bidding war with other clubs? $33 mill cap charge for the upcoming season isn't terrible for a 11-15 OA QB. That's around the current cap charge for Goff for example.

What is Carr worth contract wise as a free agent?

Personally, I think he'd get a deal that basically guarantees 2 years annual average. Like he would get a 4 year deal worth around $140 million, with like $20 mill in signing and lower base salaries in 2023 and 2024 to take his cap hit landing between $25-$30 mill in 2023 and around $30 mill in 2024. If he got cut before 2025, that team eats a $10 mill dead cap charge, which isn't terrible when considering it's a QB. Ryan would cost Indy $12 mill if he's cut in 2023 as an example.

The rumor I've heard is the Raiders getting a 3rd for Carr. If I'm the Raiders and only getting a 3rd I'm not risking any chance of getting stuck with Carr on the roster beyond 3/16. Either I have a bulletproof deal done with Carr amending his contract to beyond March 16 for the trade or I'm cutting him Tuesday.

If the goal is to get better next season then there is no reason to carry a contract you don’t want.

Playing chicken doesn’t make sense for any of the parties.

If it’s a third then I’d just consider moving on cause you just never know. the return was never going to be great

Latest headline is that he refuses to waive no trade clause. Which would then force Raiders to cut him Tuesday
Al Davis would probably Marcus Allen Carr. Even with a cap Al probably would do it. Didn’t
Have a cap back when Allen was around.

But Mark wouldn’t and given that the raiders are going into year 4 in LV and year 3 with fans they can’t waste heir time being vindictive. Have to focus on putting together a team. Especially seeing the sea of red in the ir last 2 home games vs SF and KC.

Perhaps Josh Jacobs for Raiders
Have to tag him at worst. But being realistic after Lev Bell experience are GMs going to throw monster money at a RB from another team?

I don’t see JJ even if he signs for term getting $45 mill fully guaranteed ( the equivalent of 3 years average salary). Probably only gets around 2 years guaranteed.

QB Richardson
Too raw. Josh doesn’t have that kind of time with LV. Really don’t like these raw QBs coming out when they be eligibility left to work on their game. See Lance and Love.

Jacobs to get franchise tag. == $10m+ deal
Tagging just ensures they have him for next season. I doubt the nfl teams are going to look to spend big bucks on a RB in free agency. Bell and prior to him Murray were not great deals for Jets and Eagles.

Ah
Suspected he would not get the same deal as LV. In the. Rfas deal he would have earned around $75 mill at $33 and $42 mill base.
He’s getting $60 mill in SB and base in the first 2 years and $10 mill for year 3 vesting after year 1. So ultimately $5 mill less.

He’s a cut candidate after year 2 if it doesn’t work out. Cut or restructure his $45.7 mill cap charge for 2025.

Raider QB Lewis?
Carolina traded up to #1. So, would Car, Hou, Ind all get a QB. Who knows what is left at 7? I don't see Josh banking on Richardson whom he would need to spend so much time coaching up in season and not play. I could have seen Josh draft Levis and work with him and live with the ups and down and hopefully Levis would show enough to justify Josh's return for year 3.

I doubt the option for Josh is sign Jimmy and draft Richardson. Think he needs a contributor with the top pick in this draft.

Question really falls on who Indy likes as the QB3 option after Stroud/Young? Is it Levis who is ready to step onto the field this year, but will make some mistakes or do they opt for Richardson the project? Who would be their starter for 2023 in that case?
