60% pass completion is acceptable?
It is going to be a very interesting standoff between Carr and the LV front office.
He holds a NTC and is due $33 mill guaranteed base salary in 2023 and $7.5 mill base for 2024 would also be guaranteed 3 days after SB.
So, how much does either side want to do a stare down?
Carr holds the hammer with the NTC. So, I don't expect him to ok deals to Wash, and maybe not even the Jets as they just let their OC of 2 years go, so all players are learning a new system. Indy, where are the weapons? Taylor at RB is like Jacobs, but the Receiving group is like the 2022 group. OL was supposed to be good, but was disappointing in 2023. Owner is a little unstable at times.
So, I do expect Carr to hold firm on a limited number of destinations. So, the return will reflect that. 2nd rounder might be the best offer. Or that and another pick.
I don't think Carr who has a family and appears to be 1 or 2 school aged children wants this to drag on where both sides are holding firm come training camp and pre-season. He would want to get his family settled in the new location and get the playbook in the off-season.
Raiders have to know that the return won't be massive.
Any team will redo Carr's contract. What would that look like? 4 year deal at $120-$140 million with X amount guaranteed? Exceeding the $40 mill that he is due to get as no team is taking a $40 mill cap hit for him in 2024 anyways and he knows that.
Carr is a veteran, so once they are on the roster on Saturday afternoon before the Sunday game, their entire base salary becomes fully guaranteed anyways. So, I don't think the guaranteed contract is that major an issue. Again, because he's going to be asked to redo his contract. He's not getting $116 million over 3 years that he currently has on his deal.
