Raiders will pick 7th in draft. April 27-29
No consensus after Carter and Anderson for defensive guys. On O, it’s the OT from OSU or Northwestern though the one from Northwestern I hear scouts are concerned about arm length which may push him inside to Guard. Don’t take a guard at 7 which Gallery ended Ip being. Or the WR Johnson from TCU is an option.

Adios, amigo. Vaya con dios.

Honestly. Mark Davis needs partners with deeper pockets. And he needs people who can run a good operation. Been 2 decades of dysfunction in raiders nation. But at least AL was old and senile. Mark is incompetent.

I don't think Davis is cash-poor now. He just spent 56 million on a practice facility for the Aces. Before the move that might have been the case. Since the move Davis is spending to the cap and the Raiders have state-of-the-art facilities. He just has to hire some winning management. He's 0 for 20 years. Let's hope this latest bunch of bosses can find a winning formula.

60% pass completion is acceptable?
It is going to be a very interesting standoff between Carr and the LV front office.

He holds a NTC and is due $33 mill guaranteed base salary in 2023 and $7.5 mill base for 2024 would also be guaranteed 3 days after SB.

So, how much does either side want to do a stare down?

Carr holds the hammer with the NTC. So, I don't expect him to ok deals to Wash, and maybe not even the Jets as they just let their OC of 2 years go, so all players are learning a new system. Indy, where are the weapons? Taylor at RB is like Jacobs, but the Receiving group is like the 2022 group. OL was supposed to be good, but was disappointing in 2023. Owner is a little unstable at times.

So, I do expect Carr to hold firm on a limited number of destinations. So, the return will reflect that. 2nd rounder might be the best offer. Or that and another pick.

I don't think Carr who has a family and appears to be 1 or 2 school aged children wants this to drag on where both sides are holding firm come training camp and pre-season. He would want to get his family settled in the new location and get the playbook in the off-season.

Raiders have to know that the return won't be massive.

Any team will redo Carr's contract. What would that look like? 4 year deal at $120-$140 million with X amount guaranteed? Exceeding the $40 mill that he is due to get as no team is taking a $40 mill cap hit for him in 2024 anyways and he knows that.

Carr is a veteran, so once they are on the roster on Saturday afternoon before the Sunday game, their entire base salary becomes fully guaranteed anyways. So, I don't think the guaranteed contract is that major an issue. Again, because he's going to be asked to redo his contract. He's not getting $116 million over 3 years that he currently has on his deal.

Carr has final say of where he goes. Raiders getting calls from all sorts of teams like NO, Car, Jets, Was, etc. but if Carr eliminates half of them and limits his options down to 2 maybe 3 teams the offers go down. I seriously don’t see a first rounder for him. See more of a wentz deal but a 2nd and a 3rd instead.

As a 9 year vet, his base salary will be guaranteed this season if he’s on an nfl roster by week 1. So don’t see that $40 mill a sa massive hinderance.

But I figure he’s signing a new Deal before he plays a down with new team. He’s looking to be a high enough cap hit in 2024 to ensure the new team Gives him at least 2 years. Looking to get $50-$65 mill guaranteed on a 4/5 year deal.

Good for him. But I'd prefer a longer term QB.
Really depends on what Davis’s expectations are. Was the hiring of Josh a rebuild of the failed rebuild? Where none of the guys he drafted early are getting second contracts? Save for Jacobs?

Or does Josh need to win next season?

Raiders and Carr seem to be doing a game of chicken. Figured they’d be working closer together on a move out to the satisfaction of both parties.

Could change as I heard there were rules against doing anything up to the championship games.

I don’t see Carr being willing to sit on the bench for the whole year to collect his money. Think he wants to prove the raiders wrong.

Don’t see LV cutting him now. Think they dare him to watch as free agency begins in March and he sees his preferred spots get taken up.

Shouldn’t come to that as I think cooler heads will prevail. Any team Carr goes to he’s redoing his existing contract. No team is paying Him $40 mill in 2024.

Raiders have to be realistic on a return and Carr needs to try to get to one of his 2/3 preferred destinations.

Carr doesn’t have the personality to walk into camp and dare the raiders to deal with him. Baker had that personality but opted not to do that to Cleveland.

Mock draft have Raiders taking QB Levis
Mocks at this point in time don’t mean much because free agency occurs beforehand.

As for taking a QB does McDaniels have that long a rope to get 3 more years to work with a young QB? If not, better to not draft a QB that high. End up like Chicago and replace the HC after his rookie year in Nagy.

Raiders allow him to talk with teams.. if they'll compensate Raiders in trade. Otherwise it sounds like the Raiders will have to let him go for nothing (and teams will be able to negotiate new/cheaper deal).
I look at it this way. If Carr was a free agent what kind of deal would teams be offering him? The guaranteed money would likely be equal to 2 years average salary roughly. Talking around $60 mill or something in guarantees. Whether he’s a free agent or gets traded he is redoing his contract. 2023 is fine base salary wise but no team is paying him $40 mill in 2024. That number has to come down. His contract come September will fully vest the day before the first game of the season anyways.

I doubt either side wants to do this game of chicken into the summer. Carr wants a new team so he can get the playbook and do OTAs and mini camps with new team to get ready to show the raiders it was more McDaniels than him. Plus he wants to get his young family settled in the new city before school come sept. Doesn’t want to end up like Baker and not be in sync with new teammates.

Raiders don’t want the cap charge hanging over them in the summer. So they aren’t or should t be holding out for a massive return.

As for other teams hoping he gets cut, look at what happened to the other 3 contenders for Watson last summer. Carolina, Atlanta and NO. They missed out and look at what they did at QB last season? That’s the risk of not doing a trade or missing out on your target. Sounds like the raiders have accepted terms of a trade from those few teams that they have spoken with. So it’s a matter of which one Carr likes and what kind of new contract they can agree to. Guessing that Carr wants a deal that ensures he is the starter for 2023 and 2024 in terms of guarantees.
