Wow that’s a potential disaster. Leafs betting he was “that guy” all along but was kept down by deployment. Maybe. But the price does not reflect the risk.

Interesting, the Atlantic just getting deeper into bloodbath territory

He's absolutely getting more than Nurse money, no way this deal is less than 9 per if he's willing to forgo free agency

If the contract is eight years long I think it will absolutely be less than $9 million.

Eight million would be a gross over-pay. I wanted to give John Chayka a clean slate but this is very troubling right out of the gate.

Naw I'm great.

Love watching Leafs fans do mental gymnastics as they support an organization that ran a sex trafficking ring.

If I was having a bad morning, I'd be a Leafs fan.
The organization didn't. Gordon Stuckless did, and it hurt a lot of people.

My man, I'm telling you the way your posts come across. You're attacking people and saying they have no standards or pride and support sex trafficking rings and are daft. You come across a bit odd.
The irony of what that man is spewing in this thread and towards others and his avy.

Just comical.

Yah report them. It seems constant with this poster. Creating a constant uncomfortable environment, throwing insults at anyone who doesn't agree with them, and derailing threads. It shouldn't be allowed and they clearly need help

They aren't contenders again yet but are not as far as you would think assuming this is true.

Knies-Matthews-Nylander
Mckenna-JT-Cowan

Is a pretty stacked top six.

McCabe-Tanev
OEL-Raddysh
Rielly-Villeneuve
Andrae

Is a much better defense than what they iced for most of the season. They also still have a lot of cap to spend, some more Marlies to graduate into their bottom 6 and passable goaltending in Stolarz and Hildeby/Akhtyamov. That is almost certainly a playoff team.

Come on, man. Tanev at 37 years old is not a top pairing d man. It's still a brutal d core. Old and slow.

We aren't insulting the fans, we are questioning the new management decisions. 8 year deal north of $8m is a lot for a guy that had 1 good season. Look at how David Clarkson turned out.
??? I'm not disagreeing with you, I said both statements can be true that they overpaid for a player and they didn't address the D. In what way was I acting defensive as a leafs fan?

I know people are skeptical of Radish given his age but defensemen typically peak in their late 20s or early 30s. I dont think this is terrible for Toronto, tho Carlson I think would've been a better option only because you'd have to commit 2 or 3 years at most.

Tanev outside of injuries has been perfectly fine....and if the injuries continue he is going to end up LTIR'd. No Leaf fan is worried about his contract lol awful example.
I think the issue is less about money (the cap is going up after all) and more about constructing your roster in a way that counts on older players for the team to be successful.

This literally is a deal for a top 2 dman that can play solid minutes on reg and pp. He had a solid point production last year, and prior he still played super good. With cap going up and rielly most likely traded, this isnt a bad pickup at all..... if it was a terrible deal id get it but this isnt eben close to bad lol

Just because Raddysh became a top pairing dman in Tampa last year (mostly out of necessity) does not mean the Leafs should value him like that. I would be careful about just assuming he’s an huge upgrade on Morgan Reilly as well.

Now with all that being said, $8M AAV is less than I expected.

This has real potential to be a Jeff Finger again; but on an entirely different level.

The one thing I will say, yes $9m is a scary number, for a guy until he's 38; however if he can at least be a quality top 4 defenceman, with the cap going up; it's not really a problem.

Sitting on $30m of cap space right now assuming Domi plays... only Brandon Carlo is an expiring contract.

Acquiring him will also almost certainly push one of Rielly or OEL out the door. Either of them should garner more in trade than we give up for Raddysh.
