I can’t think of many examples otherwise so I’m going to say that pretty much all new owners that come into major sports are generally better than the ones they replace.

This being a more recent trend - let’s say the last 15-20 years or whatever.

Most of these new owners are self made. Not inherited.

At least in BC it’s against the law to do that or answer
This is a public dismal. People can choose to leave out a short employment and explain the gap as “travel or taking a break” or something when they do Not know where you recently worked.

People will call the Canucks and ask what happened.

The owner is rumored to be a paranoid control freak and is in the middle of a highly publicized contentious divorce. Maybe its not the best time to be firing a woman for what could be construed as liking a tweet.
I would expect a man to be fired for it so why not a woman?

Seems like a lot of discussing without concrete fact she is fired?

Basically this. Just speculation and talk for right now, no one truly knows what is going on.

Also, people focus up, she was not fired for liking a tweet. The tweet was tweeted this afternoon, she liked it this afternoon, and the rumor is she was fired last night. The timing does not add up for her to be fired for liking that tweet.

Companies to protect themselves from giving a bad employee a good reference or a former employee a bad reference typically will only allow HR to confirm whether the person was employed, their job title, duration of employment. And not disclose details of why they left the company.

That’s officially.

Which is kind of silly since every company asks for references. So what, you can’t put down someone’s name if that person is still with that company? You need supervisors to be your reference.

But plenty of “off the record or unofficial” ways to find out.

I read it more as the fact that billionaires can afford to pay a PR team to help out with defending him, not that he is paying media people or that he needs help from the public to do so.
That makes sense. The "putting that out there" seemed like he was insinuating something.

In the nosebleeds
Gary Mason tweeted out essentially:

"He didn't beat any kids around me, so he must not have done it, great guy. "
When Mason was covering the BC political scene after Campbell defeated the NDP and went on his illegal tearing up contracts spree, he wrote "...couldn't understand the animosity towards Gordon Campbell because he was such a personable guy." Yeah especially if he just broke your contract, you care about what he is like at a cocktail party. This is the level of Mason's intellect. Mason=Moron

I was actually happy to see Doerrie moved to the role that she seemed to enjoy doing while in NJ. Thought it was a role that suited her abilities as well. I hope these rumours of her being fired aren't true. If it's true, it better be JR/Alvin/management's decision and management's decision alone.

It turns out, her liking the tweet may have been after she was allegedly fired. However, I don't see it as petty at all. If I owned a company, and an employee of mine was publicly and actively shaming me, I would fire that employee immediately!! And I would be completely justified in doing so, especially in the case of my business being one of sports and entertainment, where the brand is clearly linked to me. She didn't have to support him privately or publicly, but shaming him with the like is a red line I would most certainly draw!!

Edit: I am most certainly not defending Aqua's actions in his personal life.

I don't disagree with this. I applaud those who are willing to quit "out of principal" but I can also understand those who choose to work within the parameters of their boss. Either way, I think it's good to be smart about things in life as well.

The way I have always heard is asking "Would you hire them again?"

If they say no it means don't hire them, if they say yes it means hire them.

Not many people quit out of principal these days. Linden stepped down cause he didn’t see eye to eye with the owner.

As an employee you have to decide what you can and can’t accept. Nothing wrong with having different opinions and voicing them, but the final decision on the course of action belongs to someone else.

Never a good look to burn bridges. Especially in such a narrow industry where the people know one another. They will find out through back channels what went down.

Few things:

A. She was given the Trent Cull promotion, subsequent demotion
B. They realized Dermott isn’t very good
C. She overstepped in someway
D. Aquillini is on a rampage

I’d give anyone one of those an equal chance.

There is no way they'd fire someone over a minor flyer not working out (which we don't even know the end result of).

I keep seeing the implication that she was demoted, she was given more responsibility along with her other role.

And give your head a shake if you think it's over a signing or trade. How much sway do you think she had in the first place?

Interesting potential development…curious why she hasn’t said anything to refute the rumor, as she seems very active and vocal on social media…or, why the Canucks brass haven’t said anything to pour water on the fire…no damage control makes me think there could be more to this, unless they are trying to find a way to salvage something…but its all very speculative at this point.

I think Aquilini has all hands on deck dealing with... that other thing.
