Todd McLellan is still our coach very good chance Danault and Iaffalo will be on any of the PP units. Agree 100% yet they continue to put them out there.
Yah, 27-goal Danault on the PP…how stupid can these coaches get?!

Hopefully Hiller will wise up and throw Ovechkin out there going forward.

I don't mind Danault cleaning up trash on the front on the power play and I assume that was part of the pitch to get him here.

however there are only so many spots and Byfield Kaliyev et. al. need more PP time, sitting your young studs to reward old two-way guys who aren't being productive...the selective meritocracy needs to stop and having Iafallo and Danault swing and miss repeatedly may cost standings points.

I assume the new PP coach is aware.

As Herby stated he wasn't all that good on the PP. So we'll just go by that. And Ovechkin compared to Danault. Good one.

One of my favorite things to do now on this forum is to try and guess what nonsense he is saying based off of the replies to his posts (which I thankfully can’t see).

I’m going to guess he said something about Danault having the 2nd most goals on the team and that even if we had Ovechkin people would complain. Close?

Both the “fancy stats” and the boxscore “stat watcher” stuff says he wasn’t good on the PP. But we are all idiots and whiners for wanting a player who scored three times as many PP goals and more than double the PP points in a fraction of the time to get more deployment than a guy who was a liability on a really bad PP last year.

Nope, but thanks for responding to posts you 'thankfully can't see'. Doesn't get much lamer than that.

It's nothing against Danault either, PP simply isn't his strength. Think about how much better he would be ES and on the PK if he had a bit more jump in his legs? That's where he gets his production anyways. Unless it's an important faceoff or extremely important moment, I'd rather not see Kopi on the first PK either. We don't need him dragging at the end of games, we have enough guys who can PK to rest him a bit if the situation warrants or at least give him secondary minutes with Danault taking the brunt.

That's always bugged me and I know TM gets the blame, but it's just as much due to the fact that this team rarely breaks games open. With the addition of Fiala and hopefully some more youth growth that might happen more often. Getting that 2 or 3 goal lead makes it a hell of a lot easier to sit Anze during a PK vs. when it's a tie game.

Well said.

And yeah, nothing against PD but it’s just not his game. I’m sure it will be spun as “you guys think Danault sucks” but that is to be expected.

And yup, the time Danault doesn’t spend on the #1 PP can be put to better use by having him killing more penalties than AK or shortening the bench in the final few minutes of a game where the Kings are up a goal. They actually did that a lot last year but PD was still getting #1 PP time. That is why his ice time was so high.

Hasn’t the PP looked pretty similar to last year or is it just me

I’d like to see Grundstrom in front of the net on PP1 or 2.
I think Lias would be good there, but will never happen here for him.
QB needs to be on PP1 or 2 as a fixture, but not sure if in front of the net is best…as
he moves so well and would rather see him as a moving force on it.

I think Kopi’s days planted on half wall have ended, since Hiller is here.
He will have to adapt to Hiller’s PP.

I agree,Grundstrom is a f***ing tank, and one look at his goals should give the team the reminder that he's willing ot just enter the net WITH the puck if he has to.

That playoff goal he scored on his belly after shrugging off a bigger player in Nurse and then getting tripped is easily the goal of the year for me. Tonka STRONG.

As I life long Kings fan Living in Ontario, Canada I get to see a lot of Stutzle and I know it has been beaten over and over again, but damn, I wish he was a King.

There's no question Stutzle is the better player now and immensely talented. He would make LA a better team today.

At the same time Byfield is steadily improving and at least in my eyes is trending in the right direction. To have that combination of size, speed and skill doesn't come around often. His line has arguably been LA's best in the first 3 games so far and he's not a passenger. Short sample size, but could that have been said at any point last season?

And while points will most likely be the main factor when comparing the two, you cannot overlook the potential impact in a playoff series of having a giant, fast, highly skilled Center that the other team will need to shut down.

I think it's still too early to regret the pick.

It isn't arguable his line has been the best

QB had a really good game in Minnesota. The play where he got an assist in the 1sts was great. But that shift right at the end when he came out and busted his ass and kept the puck in the Minn zone really showed me allot. If he keeps playing like that he’s going to be a huge player for us this year.

2 pts in 3 games....you can see hes getting more comfortable and more confidence. Once he fully physically matures and realizes he can outmuscle and outskate opponents- hes going to a force.

This is part of the growth cycle that is fun to watch.
Don’t look now, but that’s 2 more point than what Stutzle has, lol.

Oh, and 33 points away from winning Sol’s money that he won’t pay.

I won't touch Tim with that 8.3 million contract, I rather have Fiala for cheaper. (At least for the first half of the contracts) Stutzle still struggles defensively. He needs to fix that part of his game. I think the Fiala trade made the Byfield pick over Tim more manageable now and Byfield will only get better every year. Revisit this when they are both at their peaks.
